Question: What happened to FreeRepublic yesterday? It was unavailable? I was beginning to suffer from truth withdrawal syndrome.

I don’t have new socks but I did order new shoes on-line last night because I couldn’t get on FR. I wonder if I can send the bill to JR. :)

” Ex: Free Republic is Drowning in Vanity Postings—Please Stop (Mod note—we concur). “
Which was, ironically enough, a ‘vanity’ post......

I thought it was an excellent question—I was wondering too.

Thanks for volunteering for the Vanity Police.
Thanks for ignoring a request by FR.

Well, according to one tape I heard from a lecture back in the early 70’s, they’ll be looking for space to dispose of about 25 million of us.

That was posted well before the catastrophic failure of the site yesterday. I’m hoping you posted to the thousands of vanity threads posted by freepers of one or two months duration during October and November with as much zeal as you’re showing here.

I also made a brief visit to Free Dominion, the Canadian “sister” site. I wondered maybe if they had some posts on what happened to FR. All things considered, I’m surprised Free Dominion is allowed to exist in Canada.
Thankfully Polipundit, RedState and others were still online yesterday so I knew the 0bama goon squad hadn’t silenced all of us yet.

Yikes!
Online shopping due to FReepsomnia.
The worst crime against us one can commit!
Forcing us to browse and shop due to boredom!
Yeah, guilty of browsing myself.
Didn’t buy anything yet, had to head to work last night.

Thanks for posting this. I wish I had this yesterday. I was suffering serious withdrawals. I was reduced to playing word games with a bunch of animated chickens as a substitute.

That's my point! So why ignore a reasonable request that was posted several days ago?
Im hoping you posted to the thousands of vanity threads posted by freepers of one or two months duration during October and November with as much zeal as youre showing here.
It's truly astounding you take such personal offense to a simple request from those who run the site.

How would you propose to begin a discussion of what happened yesterday, or, do you not believe we should discuss it?

Yes, here it caused some ill-advised dipping into Amazon and eBay. Ahem.

It this thread bothers you, get off it! Sometimes, for good reason, a rule or law must be broken, too bad you can't see the difference.

Wonder if I can get study grant money to study the effects of FR blackouts on online shopping trends. / bad joke
Better not, might give people ideas on how to boost sales.

I added several things into my Amazon.com shopping cart, but didn’t hit the button to complete the buy yet...
