THE FACE OF EVIL (I'm still shaking)

Posted on 11/01/2008 9:46:44 PM PDT by MrChips

I am still recovering. Tonight I was invited to a party at the home of some friends. Nice people there, for the most part. Lots of food, wine, beer. Former students of mine, now in college, were there. All very nice. A fun social gathering. A mildly liberal crowd with a few conservative Republicans sprinkled in. We were all avoiding talking politics, anyway. But then, rather late, just as I was preparing to leave, some guy across the room slandered Sarah Palin. I responded with a very mild, friendly, "I rather like Sarah." That's all I said. Suddenly I was the target of the most vitriolic tirade out of someone's mouth you have ever heard. The guy went on and on about how evil I was because I was a Republican, how they had ruined the planet, how I was a piece of S@#t, a lowly scum, a jerk, etc. and other such languge. He got bery personally insulting. I was in shock, saying very little, trying to weigh his ignorance, trying to remain civil in a public setting, someone else's home. A few "I'm sorry that you feel that way" as I hobbled my way on crutches (I was injured recently) into the next room to say my farewells to my hosts. But I was deeply offended. And yet, it was more like I was in shock, having been accosted by the devil, himself. It was like I needed an exorcist in the room. I half expected the man's head to start spinning around and hurling green vomit. In short. It was frightening. Truly. And it is hard to understand how some people can be so utterly full of hate and venim. Then it occurred to me: this is what we are up against. Pure, mindless hatred. Do I dare call it evil?

I hate to say this, but, behavior like that will get you severely injured where I live. People, especially after they have been drinking, tend to lose their tempers. A man attending a party and going off on another guest is a real no no.

Your hosts should have asked him to leave and apologized to you.

"In truth, all through the haunted forest, there could be nothing more frightful than the figure of Goodman Brown. On he flew, among the black pines, brandishing his staff with frenzied gestures, now giving vent to an inspiration of horrid blasphemy, and now shouting forth such laughter, as set all the echoes of the forest laughing like demons around him. The fiend in his own shape is less hideous, than when he rages in the breast of man.

FRiend, I learned something a long time ago- there are a lot of people who seem perfectly ordinary, until you hit the wrong button...

and then, they go stark, starin' bonkers on you.

This rude Moonbat may indeed be evil, but maybe he's just nuts.

It's a damned shame you were subjected to such nastiness at a party.

Often, the purpose of debates like that is for the education of bystanders. The undecided in the room saw that the left was crazy and you were sane. You won.

Yes, EVIL is the right assessment.

2 Cor 2:15-16 says that the righteous have the “scent of Christ” about them which smells of life to those who are saved and of death to those who are not.

This is the reaction to SP.

I remembered Ithaca and Cornell as very beautiful, sited on lake Cayuga as they are.

The last time I was there about three years ago, I was depressed by the place.

The canpus is overbuilt and the beautiful "University Gothic" architecture that characterized it has been overwhelmed by modernist, examples of architects ego run wild.

The town it self looks tired and down at heel as though jobs are in short supply and freeloaders have taken over the welfare rolls.

Shame.

Sorry you had to experience such vitriol, but we should be lifted by the fact that Gov. Palin is being so effective that it has the leftism's among us so freaked out and angry.

Remember that anger is always driven by fear and behind all anger is a fear that manifests itself through that anger.

Deep down in their hearts of hearts, these leftists are all justifiabley afraid that the outcome of this election is simply not going to go they way the Criminal Media is reporting it, that the polls that have BO “way ahead” are BS and worthless, and that there is no real broad American support for a socialist/communist to lead our nation...

That is their source of fear and that fear is the source of the anger that you experienced last night... ignore it...let go of it....its not yours to own...its their problem and I can assure you after McCain/Palin prevail on 11/4, its going to be much worse...

its not about convincing them of anything. Its about attacking them and conditioning them to be attacked every time they spout their BS. We have to make them understand they are in for a fight EVERY time they speak out in public.

When I umpired baseball, I used to have to remind the parents that "I call 'em as I see 'em." The same applies here.

It is evil.

I’m so thankful that it’s not that way here in Alabama (for the most part). I wear my “I heart Sara” /McCain/Palin tshirt every Saturday to soccer games and to buy groceries and all around town. I have not had one bad comment. However, every time I wear it, I get about 20 responses of “I love your tshirt...I pray they win.”

Just smile and remind them that nearly fifty years ago, as an unwed, teenage white girl, due to give birth to a mixed-race child...

Obama's mother chose life.

Tell them that you approve of her choice. And ask if they do, too. :-)

Cheers!

Just yesterday a friend of mine told me that her small town in Illinois always goes Republican, but this year, “because of Sarah Palin,” everybody she knows is voting for Obama. I don’t know what it is about Palin, but people either love her or hate her with a burning passion. Seldom in between.

OUCH. Check out Christian Medical Association, for a start.

Most psychology has a secular worldview at heart and the battle for the mind is a spiritual one.

This will not work I’m afraid. They perceive themselves to have righteous indignation and you simple hatred. The more vigorously you counter-attack the more you will fit their impression of you being a neanderthal fascist pig.
