Christmas Cactus in full bloom

Several years ago, a good friend gave me a Christmas Cactus as a gift. I never buy plants, but tenderly tend to those given to me. This plant has rewarded me each year with beautiful blooms - right at Christmas.

The strangest thing - five days ago, I noticed a little pink bud. I couldn't believe it, as this is about six weeks early!

This morning, I woke up to over fifty beautiful blossoms! It brought me an early Christmas, this year!

Good Morning Amy, that is a beautiful opening with the loyal horse and the poem is perfect. I’ll be leaving in a moment but wanted to touch base with my FRiends this morning. I was so touched by Marissa’s words I read last night. Bless her heart, she felt exactly like I did and most of us did. (((Hugs to her!))))

The Dragon

  Grace, Power, Beauty.
All are encompassed in this magnificent creature.
Gliding high overhead,
He dances upon the thermals above, surveying all below.
With unimagined speed he dives,
Filling with terror the hearts of those below.
Racing above the treetops,
He bears down on his target.
With one sweep of his mighty wings,
The village is leveled,
Nothing left but memories.
Returning to his lair,
He is content in the knowledge that he rules all that he surveys,
Crouched upon the ledge,
He spreads his wings,
And with a mighty roar,
Leaps into the sky.
The Dragon flies again,
And He is Me.

Thank you, jaycee. I used that poem in one of the ‘horse’ threads I did at the Finest. I love these animals so much. :)

A boot with a hat on top. The last time I saw that it had a caption under it saying, “A Texan with the bull@#$% kicked out of him”. LOL Aloha and thanks for all you do.

Good morning, Billie. Happy Thursday.
Thank you for the wonderful Opening Graphic and the poem.
That horse is such a beautiful animal.

I'm feeling better today and hope others are also.

God Bless our country and our troops.

On my! Do they get more gorgeous than that! I usually buy several poinsettias and ‘one’ Christmas cactus plant every year - but once they’re all straggly and the blooms are all gone, so are they. :) Kudos to you for having the patience to keep that one coming back to life each year! :)

I must tell you - that is not a picture of my cactus (mine is even more stunningly beautiful, tee hee!). One of these days I am going to learn to use the digital camera.

Here is the link where I found the picture (Google, of course). http://picturecasa.org/flowers2007.html

The Christmas cactus is one of the most beautiful plants. This year it surprised me. It decided to show me it’s beauty, when things looked so dark.

Why the 20,000 Leagues Submarine sank...

Our five-year-old son Mark couldn't wait to tell his friend about the movie we had watched on television, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."

The scenes with the submarine and the giant octopus had kept him wide-eyed.

In the middle of the telling, my husband interrupted Mark and asked, "What caused the submarine to sink?"

With a look of incredulity Mark replied, "Dad, it had 20,000 leaks!"
