Mastering Bird Day
I did the ‘bird and nap’ routine
as well as anyone’s ever seen
a wonderful tradition I must say
to celebrate a joyous glutton’s day
Turkey brown and stuffing filled there
and sweet potatoes, a tasty fare
salads and breads and gravies splash
and pumpkin spice gives the pie a dash
Wine, sharing a laugh and a knowing grin
surely camaraderie with food is not a sin
the fireside talks and the games we tried
until sleep came where some did but abide
Gossip grand and making plans to come
a season upon us and not one humdrum
tomorrow I’ll be charged up to do my thing
but now I’m gonna nap until the clock sings

Amy, I just wanted to tell you how sweet it was of you to recognize ‘everyone’. I would be scared to do that because I would surely leave out someone. It was kind of you to put that much thought into it.
We are glad you’re back and hope it was a restful and fun vacation. See ya soon on the forum (when I get through taking naps~~LOL~~)! There were so many beautiful greetings and graphics yesterday, it was fun going through them

Johnn! That is the cutest poem and fits ‘us all’ to a T. I truly enjoyed it with a smile (and was so glad to see the word
“camaraderie” spelled out. I use the word in speaking but never took the time to check the spelling~~LOL~~! Thanks, Johnn!

Sin Crouches At The Door
Sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it. Genesis 4:7
The award-winning author John Steinbeck often used biblical themes in his novels. In his book East of Eden, he describes characters who illustrate the conflict of jealousy and revenge reflected in the story of Cain and Abel. Steinbeck shows how an angry heart burning with revenge doesnt have to act a certain way. Theres always a choice.
When Abels animal sacrifice received divine favor and Cains offering of fruit was rejected, Cain burned with anger (Gen. 4:1-6). But the Lord admonished him, Sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it (Gen. 4:7). The original Hebrew words paint the picture of an animal crouching, ready to devour its prey. Cains anger and jealousy, if not brought under control, would eat him up and spill out in destructive behavior. Tragically, Cain gave in to his evil desires. It resulted in the first homicide and his departure from the presence of the Lord (Gen. 4:8-16).
Do you have feelings of jealousy or anger toward someone? If so, you have a choice. If you ignore the internal struggle, it will only get worse and control you. But if you bring your anger to the Lord and ask for His help, in His strength you will have victory.
When faced with trials from without
Or tempted from within,
Rely upon the Lord for strength
To turn away from sin. Sper

Hey, as I laze about here and recover, what better thing to do then scribe a poem, do a ‘Word for the Day, and get over gluttony.”
