Thanks so much for these music links. I was thinking of one of those songs yesterday when I was making my Cranberry salad. Of course, it was “We Gather Together”, which so describes what Thanksgiving Day is, yorkie!

Thank you yorkie,
Last year I gave out gift cards. I didn't realize that they also charge for buying them. Also, the credit card gift cards, if not used in a certain period of time, they charge an amount off the gift card. This made me angry. I won't do that again. I'm sad to see so many stores on this list closing.

Catch And Release
Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.” —John 8:34

I’m a “catch and release” fisherman, which means I don’t kill the trout I catch, but net and handle them gently and set them free. It’s a technique that ensures “sustainability,” as conservation officers like to say, and keeps trout and other target species from disappearing in heavily fished waters.

I rarely release a trout without recalling Paul’s words about those who have been “taken captive” by Satan to do his will (2 Tim. 2:26), for I know that our adversary the devil does not catch and release but captures to consume and destroy.

We may think we can deliberately sin in a limited way for a short period of time and then get ourselves free. But as Jesus teaches us, “Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin” (John 8:34). Even “little” sins lead to greater and greater unrighteousness. Sin becomes the consequence of sin. We find ourselves entrapped and enslaved, and like a luckless trout, we cannot wriggle free.

Sin enslaves us. But when we yield ourselves in obedience to Christ and call upon Him for the strength to do His will, we are “released.” The result is increasing righteousness (Rom. 6:16).

Jesus assures us, “If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

Christ broke the bonds of sin, that I
Might know His strong eternal tie;
This blood-bought liberty I bring
To be Your bond-slave, Master-King. —F. Hess

Christ releases us from sin’s slavery into salvation’s liberty.

Hi Yorkie
You did great shopping! Extra turkey for soup...Mmmm. :)

We all do one dish and meet at my parent's. I always have mashed potatoes. But there was no one for pies. So I picked up 2. Not near as good deal as you. I come to find out someone else in the family brought the pie. I wish I could donate them but they are Mrs. Smith's. Guess I'll save them for Christmas ;) I'm so silly.

I’ve discovered that when making sticky buns with the Rhodes dough balls, a drizzling of Karo syrup on the rolled out prior-to-second-rise dough is a good thing before srpinkling the cinnamon and sugar and chopped pecans and rolling into a log for cutting then rising on parchment papaer for later baking. A light drizzle of Karo on the risne rolls before baking makes a crusty treat, too.
