the legacy of the W administration may well be that the GOP has been marginalized. ;has become the party of the "neocon", -- which is not a good thing.
I will be voting for an independent ticket
the one thing that this election has right is: it is time for change but the change we need is
++ NONE OF THE ABOVE
Look. Bush spent too much. He has not been perfect. But please be fair. As to security, W made the unpopular choices. He has kept us safe. He lowered taxes. He has faced unprecedented hostility but he kept going. I feel he is true and really broken now.
The matter of the fact is that the media have been on a single mission death ray destruction of W since the Florida vote in 2000.
I believe they have had, in effect, a secret pact to do everything and anything to murder him, if not physically— spiritually, mentally to the point where he is a despised, broken shell.
It is the media that LIED in their 8 year temper tantrum about Al Gore being defeated. Out of the “follow the mob” Roman coliseum style, the disloyal public drank in whatever the media had to sell....it was glitzy—on tv 24/7...”MoVIE STARS” agreed....and we just about killed our president along the way...at a time of great national threat.
Ultimate shallow vanity. I think it is criminal and I can only hope some divine justice will in time, level the playing field.
But for those of you that lay the full blame for the decimated GOP at this man’s feet fall —think again—you are exactly where the media led you.
“Bush’s Fault”.
If Obama win, in six months, make sure your remind people how you voted ok? No wimping out now and saying, “Don’t blame me I voted for McCain” ok? In six months, be man and stand up and be honest ok?
Well stated.
” the GOP has been marginalized. ;has become the party of the “neocon”,
What does that mean?
A vote for 3rd party is a vote for Obama.
Come on, cut out the “curly haired dude hiding in a cave” BS.
We got the Patriot act, which most even here did not want.
We got the bank bailout, which most did not want.
We got almost unrestricted immigration and open borders, which most don’t want.
We got unprecedented levels of vitriol and mistrust from other nations, including our allies, which most don’t want.
History will not be kind to GWB.
MEDIA.
“W did what was right. Not what was good for the GOP. “
I disagree. One can argue over the wisdom of Iraq and Afghanistan as executed. We focused more on nationbuilding, and less on killing terrorists. While maybe it seemed “right” to give Iraqi’s the benefit of our wealth with no strings attached, it was exactly the wrong thing from the taxpayer’s perspective. We could have prosecuted a war on terrorism without trying to do the impossible - installing a self-perpetuating democracy in a Muslim nation.
W may have done what he thought was right, but the result was not only not good for the GOP and freedom, but the future of the republic.
A conservative would not have pursued the course W did.
All this is academic, until we get the inevitable repressive anti-American islamic regimes in both Iraq and Afghanistan. These folks are not our friends - and that will become clear now that our credit card (the one funding the party) has been declined at the bar.
“I am beginning to think it is over”
I am almost there as well. I live in a suburb of Dallas, in Frisco. I cannot tell you how many Obama signs, stickers, t shirts I see in this conservative city of Frisco. Nothing like Kerry/Bush, nothing. It is most definetly palpable here. If its like this in Frisco Texas. Houston... we have a problem.
I am not a troll or trying to bring down the masses. I am honestly reporting what I see. We need to be prepared for the worst and be pleasantly surprised if McCain wins this thing.
God Bless
Who are you thinking of voting for instead?
Oh, and thank you for reminding me, we lost the Republican majority, which I assume most here didn’t want.
Mike, with all due respect, and I mean this in a good way, you are a complete fool. Our enemies salute you!
Welcome to FR.
“If the GOP losing is the result of that, then so be it. I accept it.”
You’re a fool if you accept this.
“On the wars, Bush has been a great success.”
There is no objective measure of warfare by which you can come to this conclusion.
I see more McCain signs in my area by far ( north Atlanta)
A friend told me that the DC suburbs ( Md, VA) are huge into Obama delirium to the point where the little 5 year old across the street asked her mommy, “instead of a Barney birthday, can i have an Obama birthday?”
My son and thousands of other GI's have spent the last several years in Iraq and Afghanistan, carrying out the orders of the Commander in Chief, while you and I are sitting in our safe homes typing away on our keyboards.
This year some people will, like you, cast a vote of rebellion in a fit of temper. You will leave the voting booth feeling self-righteous and proud of your choice. You'll all proclaim to anyone interested- I showed THEM! Throw em all out! Screw Bush, he ruined my party!
By the way- since you're so disgusted with Bush (as many of us are) please list the the actions you've taken to improve the GOP.
Meanwhile, back in Iraq and Afghanistan, are our fellow citizens who volunteered and swore to protect and defend the constitution. Come January, they will have a new Commander in Chief- one YOU will have had a part in choosing for them.
Someday, you may even meet one of these young people, may have to look them in the eye.
That's what you should be thinking about in the privacy of the voting booth on November 4th.
You guys are so inspirational and brilliant, man!
I wonder what most here would think was more dangerous.
A democrat who SAYS WHAT HE WANTS TO DO and then TRIES TO DO IT, or...
a republican who SAYS WHAT HE WANTS TO DO and then TURNS AROUND AND DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT ANYWAYS...
Thank you.
Wrong! Very wrong! Bush ruined the GOP with compassionate conservatism. His entire presidency has been used to increase the size of govt to overwhelming levels. Prior to 9-11 he was growing govt and pushing for a "new America". After he's been solely focused on Iraq and has let the Congress run roughshod over this country. How many times did you wish he'd veto these ridiculous spending bills over the last seven years?
Has he engendered any loyalty from people in his admin? Look at Powell, McClellan and a host of others. They have all turned on him after leaving. Why?
Please don't tell me it's because they are all wrong and Bush is right. Bush is a failure as president. Plain and simple. He's wrecked the economy with profligate spending. He's wrecked the GOP.
You can blame the media all you want. I have been following this fool for eight years and know how to read. I also know that Bush has been fighting to protect the Iran/Iraq border for years but has left ours wide open. Explain that.
You go, girl!!!
I’m voting in November for the United States Military (and Cindy McCain for First Lady because the alternative is unthinkable).
