“OK,is it just me or did Biden have Botox or a facelift?”
No, I definitely noticed “Chinese Eyes” going on there.
Now that that’s out of the way... she really bitch slapped Biden with the “White Flag of Surrender” comment. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

“I liked the part when she was talking about energy and called her opponent Senator Obiden.”
I wasn’t sure if I heard that right.

Exactly, exactly, exactly. With the democrats role in CRA, This election is McCain’s to lose, and if he doesn’t start talking about it, and start doing it soon, he will lose. Biden/Barack don’t hesitate to equate McCain with Bush. McCain shouldn’t hesitate to equate Biden/Barack to a despised democrat-controlled congress and their collective roles with Fannie/Freddie.

You hear Krauthammer on Fox now? Said it was “baffling” that McCain and Palin are not playing up his call for regulation of Fannie and Freddie. I must agree. It’s like they’re throwing away a great issue. I was sorry gun control did not come up tonight too as it would have been a winner for our side. That’s another reason I don’t like the single moderator format. There were probably a dozen other times I would have answered differently from Sarah but apparently she did fine on her own. The reviews seem to be mostly positive largely because of her average Jane and Joe appeal.

I guess I'm in the minority. To me, it was painful. I wanted to see "Saracuda," and in the opening few minutes, I was shouting at the TV, yelling at Biden about how it WASN'T Wall Street running amuck, but people like Dodd and Frank accepting huge sums of money from the execs at the GSEs, how congress had forced banks to make loans to people who couldn't or wouldn't pay back the loans!
I wanted her to shove it down Biden's throat. I actually turned it off after less than 15 minutes. I just couldn't take it. I'm still shaking, I'm so angry.

She's real, in exactly the same way that Arugula Boy, Plugs, and even McCain aren't. She doesn't just talk about being an outsider, she is an outsider. And that connects on a very fundamental level.

Right you are—Joe used the traditional debate technique of firing a barrage. And that barrage hit. At the same time, this is typical Joe Biden, and he is not very likeable.
McCain’s got to stop taking hits on health insurance. Palin finally fired back on liberalism’s expensive government solutions—but McCain needs to get more specific, like mandated National Service programs in middle and high schools and taxpayer funded abortions.

Actually, I disagree. I thought her beginning was strong. I kept praying, “OK, God, she won that 20 minutes, so please give her another 20, and another, and another.” Botton line: maybe not a grand slam, but certainly a home run . . . with a man on base.

Fox commentators all expressing their bafflement over the McCain campaign’s failure to point out McCain’s efforts to improve oversight of Freddie/Fannie in 2005. When the opening was there, Palin talked of other aspects of the financial crisis. She clearly had not been prepared for that obvious set of facts that needs to be presented, and presented often.
A glaring mistake in an otherwise outstanding performance.

I felt Sarah was constrained by her advisors and the campaign to be too much a cheerleader tonight and not allowed to just be herself and take the dems to task. Having said that, she certainly held her own with Biden and, much more importantly, she connected with the American people much much better than Biden.
That will be the key from tonight.
Biden bloviated all over the place and will be shown to have made glaring misrepresentations on McCain's record and his own.
But all of that pales in comparison to Sarah's ability, even when cheerleading for McCain, to connect with the American people in her style, in her wording, and in her demeanor.
I'M VOTING FOR SARAH...AND SO ARE A WHOLE OF OTHER PEOPLE

"Finally, I think that overall Biden had a much better ability to articulate the issues using objective details (false, fabricated, distorted as they may be)."If you use false statements objectivity falls out of the question.

Sarah was just great. She connected with the American people. Plugs bored the hell out of everyone. He came across MEAN...Sarah just laughed at him to herself and kicked his ugly butt. Sarah is just that GOOD.

Rough at the beginning. Let a lot of stuff go on unanswered. Much better as it went on. Great closing remarks. I thought Gwen Ifill did a good job. Biden went after McCain all night. Palin not always able to refute as she should have (for example, Biden said McCain didnt see subprime crisis coming--they've got an ad out touting McCain's 2005 bill which was shot down by dems. it was all over the blogosphere this week. No mention.
Bottom line: weak beginning, kept going back to comfort level issues. stronger as it went on, but not enough effective refutation of Biden's points. Excellent analysis - she left so many accusations unanswered, but in all honesty Biden knows McCain and his record better than Palin does, so she was at a significant disadvantage in refuting his statements. She did what she could, I just hope it was enough or goodbye capitalism, hello socialism.

Here’s the thing. About 1 % of the viewers actually understand the background of what they were talking about. It was mostly a boring blurr. They see the ‘person’. Who was the most likeable? I say it was Palin. Even Biden liked her.
I don’t like it, but that’s the way people watch these things.
