AWWWWWWWWW! There is nothing cuter than a puppy - or actually a baby animal of any kind - even ugly grown animals have cute babies! :)

Good afternoon, LadyJ.
That is a beautiful owl graphic.
We very seldom see owls, but we do hear them at night.
Also, I really like your Snowy Owl poem.
Thank you for sharing and thank you for your many contributions to Amy's Place.
Have a Warm Fuzzy Wednesday.

Well, your training table is quite stylish! I see one of your kittens is a little shy, though. :)

Can we do both elephants and owls? I'm trying to catch up from yesterday (even though I never catch up I DO try).

Afternoon, FRiends at Amy's Place.
First, I want to thank you all for the warm sympathy greeting y'all extended to our family regarding Mom's Homegoing. Thank You so very much.
We had a real nice memorial service last Thursday and if I may, I'd like make a few comments and share a couple of pics with y'all.
Mom was a very gifted seamstress... sewing everything from clothes, to draperies, upholstering and toys for all the grandkids and gr-grandkids. Below is an example of her handiwork. We transported 6 Raggety Ann & Andys, 2 Cabbage Patch dolls and a few other items Mom made over the years. We displayed them in the foyer of the funeral home...
Some of you may remember a post I made a few years ago about a bouquet of flowers I gave Mom. Briefly, Mom was allergic to fresh flowers and I always wanted to give her a bouquet of roses, soooo, I went to the rose garden at the park and took pictures of roses in full bloom, placed them in a photo album and presented her with a bouquet.
At the funeral, one of our daughters wrote and delivered the eulogy for her "Nana". I also shared the following story...
Mom had a great love for music. She especially loved to listen to the old hymns of the church. Listening was what she did best, because Mom was tone-deaf and she would be the first to tell you that she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. Soooo, I went to the local Christian Book Store and got a couple of tapes of her favorite songs. I got some musical note stickers, placed 'em on a brass bucket, inserted the tapes and gave Mom her very own bucket to carry a tune.
I now have that bucket with a couple of tapes Mom gave me that she knew I would enjoy...

Hi Lady Jag
Lovely Poem and picture. Me too. I have heard Great Horned Owls here in the our yard, but haven't been able to see them yet. I also have wished to see a Snowy Owl.

I just read the menu again, and if I could eat shell-fish, I would order the Shrimp Sandwich:
Jumbo Southern Fried Shrimp, Open face style, Heart of crisp lettuce, 1000 Island Dressing, with french fries.......65 cents.
And for dessert:
Apple Pie A la mode.......25 cents.

Last owl I saw at home I don't know what the heck it was. I was sitting on the front steps near dusk. The birds had gotten quiet and there was just the sound of a slight breeze when it instantly got very dark. Looking up I was shocked to see a huge dark mass with a wingspan of five feet easy.
If it weren't roundish I'd have sworn it was a plane going down with its engines out it was so quiet!

Anniversary of Internet being Created
Oatmeal Day
Best Oatmeal Cookies
1 cup butter, room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup firmly-packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat until smooth. Stir in flour, baking soda, baking powder, and ground cinnamon. Add the rolled oats and continue stirring until combined.
NOTE: If you are adding nuts, raisins, or chips, add them now.
Place round tablespoons of dough on prepared cookie sheets. The mounds of dough should be no larger than a walnut. Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until light brown and bottoms are golden (cookies should not get brown). Remove from oven and cool on wire racks.
Yields 3 dozen cookies.

In winter you can go to Logan Airport to see them. They come down from the north and sit out on the grassy parts between runways. I don't know why.

To: Diver Dave
So good to hear from you, Dave, and thank YOU for sharing a little of your mom with us - those dolls are just wonderful, and I also remember you telling us about the "tune-carrying" bucket. It's such a cute story.
Thank you also for sharing a bit of the memorial service with us. You have such a warm and wonderful family.
It's nice to have you back. :)
