My computer is now one of life's necessities..I am ready for no lights.I can keep warm by the fireplace..Can preserve some frozen food for awhile.. Can't cook..but can make do for awhile ..No computer is much worse than no TV...No A/C is the very worst in our summer heat..I'm gone if it lasts too long. So far I haven't had a long outage.
My daughter's power was off for more than 2 weeks from Ike..That's why I had the great long visit from her.

**My computer is now one of life’s necessities**

Ditto to everything else! We eat better during a hurricane than we normally do! Trying to use up perishables and we’re actually home! Homemade biscuits on a gas grill are the bomb! And they only take about 5 mins—perfectly golden. You’d be surprised what you can whip up on a gas grill! LOL

Glad your daughter got to visit, sorry for the reason.

There is something so deeply spiritual about a small country church. One of the most memorable weddings I ever attended, was in a small wooden church (much like the one GG spoke of), nestled in the mountain pines of Colorado.

There were about 75 guests, all seated, a bit restless, waiting for the bride and groom to walk down the aisle.

It started snowing - big flakes, as big as silver dollars, floating slowly to the ground. Within minutes, the snow turned the scenery into a big fluffy white blanket.

No one expected what we were about to see. Almost as if exiting a cloud, the bride and groom appeared, in a horse driven sleigh.

It was the perfect setting for a fairy tale wedding.

I gave away my gas grill when I moved...I am considering getting a small portable grill for emergencies. Usually the outage doesn’t affect all over so I just eat out.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!

Dear God, who suffered
torment, agony and death upon the Cross
to free our souls from the chains of iniquity;
protect and defend our troops.
Guide them in the performance of
their Duty.
Strengthen them to endure hardship,
danger, and deprivation in
Your service.
Let their efforts free the people
of Iraq from the chains of terror
and slavery, foster a lasting peace
in the region, and bring all to a
greater share in Your mercy.
Amen.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!

Amazing Grace

by John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, .
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

Speaking of old churches, the one I attend is 110 years old and the sanctuary is just beautiful. My youngest son was married there....(that marriage failed after 9-10 years, I’m sorry to say). Things happen though beyond our control. He has been single many years now but has a beautiful girlfriend.

Pollywog, I just listened to Elisabeth Hasselback introduce Sarah Palin in Florida this morning. Elisabeth was terrific and Sarah was great....the crowd was roaring! But I am still worried (when I listen to the Obama supporters (news media) and they give us the poll numbers. The Man upstairs is still in charge.
