Was the Stephenville UFO a National Security Threat?

Was the Stephenville UFO a National Security Threat? american chronicle Franklin D. Fields, Jr. Esq. Stephenville, Texas attracted worldwide attention earlier this year (Jan, 08) after residents sighted an unidentified flying object (UFO) that some say was a mile long. By news accounts, there were more than 30 residents to specifically report the sighting. It was front-page headlines in a large number of news forums. Many of the witnesses were interviewed on national television programs such as CNN´s Larry King Live.

All of the witnesses were credible and none were shown to be perpetrating a hoax. They might have been mistaken, but that seems unlikely since so many people saw the same object. Also, other evidence is available to corroborate their story. There was obviously something flying over Stephenville that might be a national security threat. Why will our government not take this incident seriously?

Steve Allen, a 50-year-old pilot, said that the object was "a mile long and half a mile wide" and that "I don't know if it was a biblical experience or somebody from a different universe or whatever but it was definitely not from around these parts." There is no disputing that Mr. Allen is a credible witness who saw a strange craft and then reported it to authorities. The U.S. Air Force was made aware of the sighting, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) knows about it and even Homeland Security was contacted. However, no official Federal Government Agency has looked into the matter or conducted an official investigation, why not?

An object 5 feet long subtends a different arc size depending on the distance away from the viewer

That's according to your physical laws, Earthman.

Uhm....have you ever been to north Texas? Crawford isnt there.

And Stephenville is a long way from there too. I guess not so far by intergalactic space ship standards though.

I'm certainly NOT a newby, and know they've been covering up stuff like this for 60 years or so. I'm a two-time CE-1, so I can verify that we're being lied to and discredited.

Now, if you want to start using some grey matter, instead of making jokes about the unknown, (maybe because you fear the unknown), then maybe we can accomplish something in the way of flushing out the truth, instead of nay-saying people who ernestly come here with evidence of weird goings on, instead of blindly joining the kook patrol and poking fun at what YOU can't explain!!!

End of transmission.

No way do I want anyone bumping into that and thinking that I must have asked to be listed as “Esq.”. It’s utterly pretentious.

Compared to dentists and chiropractors being called Doctor?

“Doctor” is an appropriate and commonly used title for anyone holding a doctorate degree of any type, whether in medicine, literature, math, chemistry, or whatever. About the only case where it’s not used is for doctorates in nursing and physician assistants (whose degrees are now increasingly doctorate level, rather than master’s), due the the likelihood of confusion for patients, who would tend to assume that a medical professional being addressed as “Doctor” must be an M.D.

The basic law degree is a doctorate (J.D., for juris doctor), and law school professors are normally referred to as “Dr. __”, just as are other college/university professors who hold doctorates in their subject area. But in the U.S. the norm in the practicing legal profession is to use just Mr./Ms., or less commonly nowadays, Mrs. or Miss. Any U.S. lawyer who put Esq. after his or her name would be the subject of snickering and eye-rolling.

As an FR historical note, before your time, FR had a self-appointed arch-enemy and legal troublemaker whose screen name was “Eschoir”.

Ah, Eschoir. Those were the days. Could’a used a good ZOT, him. But those were pre-Zot days as well.

Funny how these damned thing always show up when NOBODY has a camera or a cell phone with a camera.

Even if somebody had snapped pictures it wouldn't convince anyone and you know it, there are pictures taken all the time of these things, they need land and setup a BBQ (where we're not on the menu) or high tail it out of here ...

If the photo doesn’t have absolute clarity it would be ridiculed as being fuzzy and is obviously photoshopped.

And if the photo IS sharp and clear ... it's ridiculed as an obvious phony.

The basic law degree is a doctorate (J.D., for juris doctor), and law school professors are normally referred to as “Dr. __”, just as are other college/university professors who hold doctorates in their subject area.

I have never heard an attorney referred to as Dr., including law school professors, unless they had a LLD or PHD. The practice of not calling attorney's Doctor I believe came about because, until fairly recently, in the U.S. a law school degree was a LLB, bachelor of legal letters. LLM, master of legal letters and LLD, doctor of legal letters are still advanced degrees that some law schools offer over and above a JD.

It just always seemed a bit incongruous that a Juris Doctor law degree, which requires at least three years postgraduate work, is not entitled to the same respect/recognition as other doctor degrees including some that appear to require less in the way of rigor and or requirements.

OK, let fly with the lawyer jokes, at least if there are any "fresh" ones.

"After all these years, please give me something more than eyewitness testimony, please..."

Agreed, but for what it's worth, while I was on jury duty a year or so ago, the judge let us know that the defendant's guilt could be determined beyond a reasonable doubt on eyewitness testimony alone.

However, if there are indeed aliens flying around, it doesn't necessarily follow that they would ever announce themselves, any more than we'd formally announce ourselves to animals at a wild animal park, which may well be how they regard earth. For all we know, an alien entity "owns" earth, and charges admission for tours of it. If a tram breaks down in an animal park, the owners don't just leave it there, they go pick it up. Anyhow, potential aliens may have some interest in us, but on the deeper level, they also may not just give much of a damn.

That was a very smart post, you really think out of the box and that made a lot of sense. I don’t believe aliens exist but still very clear think on your part. You did make me think of something funny, imagine on thier tour they say things like “Look at the little human, look at him riding in that car thing, that so cute, hurry honey, get a shot of that ....” much like we do with monkeys.

I live in Dublin where many of the sightings were. Crawford is 75 miles away, not far by air travel. At any rate, the people who saw this are not considered crackpots by any means. One is a sheriff’s deputy who I have been acquainted with for 10 years or more. I myself heard the jets (apparently our military) in the area and we rarely, almost never, have commercial air traffic out here.

Another witness said that he was standing under it on his ranch and the bottom of the object “filled the entire sky”....and suddenly took off in a blink of his eye at a 45 degree angle....with no sound or wind distubance.

Then it wasn't a real object. Any object that physical size that took off at that speed would move enough air to create a sonic boom that would shake houses hundreds of miles away.

Imagine if you lived in a two dimensional world, then along came a three diminsional creature and he stuck his finger into your world, all you would see is a circle or ellipse moving, you would not be able to grasp what is truly going on.
