Now mockolate. Verily, the world is coming to an end. I like dark chocolate better than milk chocolate but I definitely concur -- some things are sacred!
And if they start screwing with dark chocolate, I'm outta here.

At least this is due to rising costs. If one more company or restaurant changes their menu to “healthier alternatives” I’m going to scream.

Their chocolate was bad enough to begin with. I’m not a big milk chocolate fan to begin with (I like dark chocolate), but I have always preferred Ghiradelli’s.

I thought they had already moved some
moved some jobs out of country to utilize sweatshop labor and avoid OSHA and pollution controls. Didn't that save them enough money? If not, perhaps they should consider cutting golden parachutes and management salaries to make up the shortfall.

They should get their milk from China. It’s cheaper. More protein, too.

I’ve already emailed Hershey’s and told them I was no longer going to purchase their products because the quality of the food has gone down, while the “quality” of the packaging has gone the other way...more money spent in the packaging and less in the product.
I don’t THINK so!

Ever hear of Schlitz beer? The Milwaukee brewer was easily the nation's largest in the 70's - then they found a way to cheapen the recipe and thought nobody would notice.
Well they did. Within a few years the company was broken up and sold.

Note to self: Stock up on Godiva and Dove. Place in emergency escape box. Also, grab discounts from Russell Stover.
I thought their chocolates were tasting particularly cheap. (Hershey)Trust me, I know.

“Now mockolate. Verily, the world is coming to an end.”
Although I do find it symptomatic of what is happening in US industry. As a rule, we can’t compete making any sort of functional commodity (cars, computers, furniture, clothing), but junk food is something we had always been good at (candy, soda, salty snacks, Twinkies). Now, even those are beginning to erode.
The world is catching on that all we make is useless junk.

Anybody remember the candy counter in Sears and Roebuck? Everytime we went there, I begged my parents for that chunk of milk chocolate in the display case! Other times, I’d subtly stand by the display case and wait for them to find me.

Other childhood treat I have been disappointed in when I have gone back to them years later:
1) Chip A’Hoy cookies are half the size and don’t have the once-promised 16 chips per cookie.
2) Dove bars used to be twice the size they are now.
3) Nabisco Royal Grahms don’t exist anymore so far as I can see (that is chocolate covered grahm crackes that were about 2 inches square.
4) Chocolate cake donuts at Bennison’s Bakery in Evanston Illinois. Once fabulous and plentyful chocolate, but it’s cheap and not plentiful now.
