Gosh Meg, thats good you reduced it like that...by shrinking the picture. I think there is something on my computer like that. I’ll check it sometimes.

Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Station
Silver Spring's first railroad station, built in 1878, shown in a 1943 photo.
Courtesy Montgomery County Historical Society

The first Railroad Station was just outside the city of Baltimore Maryland consisting of a small shed laid out on a wood platform with and small bleacher set up for on lookers to watch the new Iron Horse in action, also a wagon full of wood and a Large barrel of water were on the opposite side of the track as a fueling "station". The tracks were set up as an exhibition area with just less than 1/2 mile of track laid for the showing of the first American made steam rail Train. By 1802 there was no trace of this short lived station and rail line. a few years later a B&O RR station & the Maryland main RR Yard was built on this same stretch of land.

Hi LadyJag.

How was your too-short vacation? We missed you.

Your graphic and poem are really cute. Reminds me of a trip to New England several years ago. One of my friends and I visited Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. It was a wonderful trip that neither of us will ever forget.

The leaves were absolutely beautiful.
