Good morning, FRiends. Happy Thursday!

Our Holiday Calendar today reminds us of that September morning 7 years ago.
At the top of today's Holiday list is ...

National 9-1-1 Day!

Patriot Day

As always, we also have fun celebrations.
So today, we also celebrate ...

Make Your Bed Day

National Neighborhood Day

National Hot Cross Buns Day

Hot Cross Buns

Ingredients:
1 loaf frozen bread dough (1 lb.)
1/2 cup golden raisins
2 tablespoons brandy
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 large egg
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk

Preparation:
Thaw frozen bread dough following package directions. Place in a large bowl, cover, and let stand until pliable and no longer cold, 30 minutes to 1 hour.

In a small bowl, soak raisins in brandy for 30 to 40 minutes. Add raisin mixture and nutmeg to dough. In bowl or on a board, knead raisins into dough. With floured hands, divide dough into 12 equal pieces; shape into round rolls. Place about 2 inches apart on a buttered baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place until almost doubled, about 20 minutes. In a bowl, beat egg with 1 tablespoon water. Brush buns with egg mixture (discard remainder). Bake rolls in a 350º oven until golden brown, about 20 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let stand 10 minutes.

In a bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk. With a spoon, drizzle icing over buns in the shape of a large X.

On this day I bow my head in Prayer in remembrance of all that lost their lives.

God Bless America, all Americans and our Military!

Praying also that my daughter and granddaughter will heed my warning and evacuate NOW from Houston, she can be so stubborn sometimes (like here father) :)
Worried about IKE.

Called
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them. —Romans 12:6
In September 2001, Lisa Jefferson had an unexpected opportunity to be used by God. Her now well-known 15-minute conversation with a passenger on United Flight 93 forever changed the direction of her life. In her book Called, she emphasizes that her listening skills and her ability to take charge and stay calm in a crisis were used to encourage fellow believer Todd Beamer in the last moments of his life.

She didn’t ask to be used that way. But God saw a woman who was available and matched her with someone who was in need. Lisa now shares her story with whomever she can to encourage believers to always be ready to serve.

Not only has God given us natural abilities, He also equips every believer with spiritual gifts for the purpose of ministry. God doesn’t use the unwilling—He won’t force us to serve Him. His part is to equip us (Eph. 4:11-13) and empower and prepare us for service. Our part is to be faithful and available and aware of opportunities to use our gifts (Rom. 12:6).

When you feel impelled to help fill a need, when you are inwardly driven to serve—listen to those thoughts. You don’t want to miss God’s call.

In gladness I go forth each day
Expectantly to serve and claim
The happiness that service gives
When freely rendered in God’s name. —Anon.

God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary work.

Just a warning:

My next graphic is quite large...in length at least. Hope it
doesn’t goof someone up, but I just need to honor the fallen
from 9-11.

Thank you for your reply. I think of you daily. I haven’t gotten around to writing the letter. I need to as I’ve been burdened over my sweet neighbor. I don’t know why life is as fast as it is sometimes. I wanted to be on here a lot today for 9/11 but have a hair appt. soon, plus have to make a corn/greenbean salad for our Red Hat picnic tomorrow evening. Each day there’s pushing things to get done.

Thank you so much, Luv. Today is a very sad anniversary of that horrible day for our country. Its just as fresh to me today as seven years ago. I have already had a little cry this morning. I know we all have the same sad feeling this day and we need all those pictures posted. I have some things to do today so I don’t know how much time I can be on today.

I’ll try though.

This is a chilling home video of what
happened that horrible day
that we'll never forget.
(It's nearly 30 minutes long,
but needs to be seen!)
Some of you might have already seen it,
but I hadn't till today.
Made me cry all over again!

We all have to go about our lives. It’s always good to see you
when you can be here. If you get a chance to watch that video,
please do. It is chilling, but needed (in my case). I didn’t
want to “lose” the horror of that morning.

Hi LUV. Your post is fine. The length of the table doesn't matter, it's the kilobyte size of each your photos and they are all quite small. No one will have a problem with your post. And thank for so beautifully remembering this tragic day in our history.

I wish that I knew who the author of the poem is, but I had sketched the eagle several years ago (only without the 3 bloody feathers), and then I found that poem (author unknown even then) and I knew they needed to be together.

What a tragic day for America, but oh how George W. Bush - and Rudy Guiliano - brought us together.

I will definitely watch the video. I never want to forget that horrible morning either. I had Cspan on while cleaning up the kitchen. If you could hear those hate calls on there, it makes me shiver. There are some bad folks in this country who still spew the hateful story that “our wonderful President” did all that. Can you believe people are so stupid and hateful and mean?

Good morning, Stopem1.

We are all remembering and praying for the families of those who lost their lives that day.

I’m joining you in prayers for your family in harm’s way. May God protect all in Ike’s path.

God Bless our Military and God Bless America, Land that I Love!
