Thanks for the info, Bev.
Good job on your storm prep, GC6. I’ll be praying for you. When is Gustav supposed to make landfall?

Morning Granny! How's the reaction to Palin out there? I imagine it must be exciting all the delegates.
Jay.. she has two threads going with one a general Palin thread as McCains VP & the second thread one of her REPORTING from the convention. You might (if you have time) want to read her comments on the events. The VP Palin thread is a bit longer & started WAY before Palin with the speculation etc..
Mc Cain choses his VP - Palin
Granny reports from convention
good morning everyone. Hope you all have a wonderful & safe holiday weekend. Going to Cleveland Air show today.. Blue angels plus a lot of other things. always a great show

Oh my...I had never heard of the DAILY KOS until I read about it on another FR thread. My goodness! They are writing horrid things about Sarah Palin!! i.e. she faked her pregancy of the Down’s Syndrome baby - they are saying it was her daughter’s baby. How sick are some people? MIGHTY SICK, I would say!

I haven’t heard poll numbers today, but yesterday, a poll taken pre-Palin, Obama reportedly was quite higher than before. He HAD gotten a bump. Will be interesting in the next few days, however.

Our electric bill has soared as well, here in CALI. I live in a small place, and the bill has gone up $100/month - from the high side. Here, one can open doors much of the time and have no ac or heat on, but we often have ac on, as we live away from the ocean. Those folks near the ocean never turn on their ac. We do, and it could run up to near $200 last summer. Now, it’s $300. I think I’d give up a lot of things before I’d turn off my ac. But, it hurts the wallet.

When has a governor had foreign policy experience?
Um, when Bill Clinton oversaw the drug smuggling into Mena Airport in Ark.??? (Just kidding! ;-))

Blue Angels?!
How cool is that. Have fun and go Palin!

In re Hillary and this election:
I think Hillary has got to look forward to 2012, and she needs a Nobama loss big-time. But more than that, she needs to somehow wrest control of the Dem party from the Nutroots like Daily Koss, MoveOn and Soros, because they were the ones behind the Nobama primary win. We shall see if the Clintoons are really out as leaders of their pary...
In re the Justice Roberts' confirmation:
Judge Bork was voted down, not because he was pro-life, but because he believed that abortion was NOT a Constitutional right but a state issue...the Dems want the Roe v. Wade 'precedent' to continue, and that is why the Presidential race is so important...
In re Nobama's team and their touchiness:
From what I have read, it appears that Nobama's team is almost pure Little Tommy Daschle's leftover hangerson, especially the health care 'plan' debacle Nobama wants (which is HitleryCare in a family-size package). Nobama's team is said to be in a 'bubble,' taking no hints or direction from outside their sphere -- a very bad move since it isolated the Clintons instead of allowing them a role in the coronation....;-))

Yes, 2/3s we’d pull the lever for McCain even without Sarah, but now with her on the ticket, we’ll skip in and smilingly pull the lever, then skip out. This decision by John McCain is a WIN, WIN decision. We heard about her when we visited Alaska a couple of years ago. My relatives think a lot of her and her gutsyness and her “way with words” when she sees something, not quite right. My cousin say’s she’s fights like a Stealhead on 10 pound line, when she goes after a wrong doer.

now change their tune because they have "issues" with Palin. Their "issues" are that Palin is drop dead gorgeous and they, being democrats, are used to looking at hags - maybe even in the mirror.
She has even given her children "not made up" names, and her husband isn't hard to look at either.
Not that this is why I really, really like her, just explaining some of the "issues".
This is an absolutely thrilling VP pick and I'm so excited that McCain actually came through. Ever since I first heard Palin mentioned as a maybe pick, I've been reading up on her and I'm impressed. Especially like her ability to do it her way and not let anyone tell her to sit down and shut up!

I don’t know if there have been any polls done since this was announced, but it could be very interesting when they are.

LOL! I’m sure the entire MSM has concern on their faces. Since I avoid them as much as possible, I don’t see their mugs much.

Yes, till, not that it necessarily would have anything to do with her politicing, but in high school basketball, she was known as 'Sarah Barracuda' because of her aggressiveness to go after the ball.
It has been reported that she has an 80% approval rating as governor.
