Rush was giddy yesterday after the pick. He could not contain his excitement.

It also puts Obama's team on the defensive, and will probably be that way for the rest of this election cycle. Bary has not united his base, and the clintons are going to blow him off.

Three AP stories yesterday were critical of Obama and his policies. I wonder if there is some of the clinton work going on behind the scenes to undermine this campaign?

I thought they were crazy- they knock her for lack of foreign policy experience and shine the spotlight on their candidate.

She’s better qualified than Obama

No question about the pick. Brillant in so many ways.

How do the question the experience when the candidate for president of the dems has virtually no experience anywhere. He's self absorbed and has, in the words of Jesse Jackson, "Ran his mouth and nothin' else."

The change took place with McCain not Obama.

Is Karl Rove lurking out there?

Good morning! Thanks for the thread, lysie and breakfast...

I heard a radio caller last night: a few weeks ago she said, she was voting against Obama. Two weeks ago she was voting for McCain. Yesterday afternoon, she wanted a yard sign! That's the progression many of us have travelled. Except that I realized months ago I'd have to work for McCain. Now I'll do it with more enthusiasm.

I'm not necessarily a Morris fan , but this is great.

Alan said, "Don't you need somebody that's ready Day 1 to be President of the United States?"

Morris responded, "Yeah, it would be nice if the Democrats nominated somebody like that..."

Well, most of us have been critical of McCain, to the point that we, as his mother advised us, were going to 'hold your nose and vote for John McCain'. Rush and Sean were VERY excited yesterday. I listened to them as much as I could. I believe Mrs. Palin is going to influence McCain tremendously where he is weak on conservatism, particularly drilling. They are BOTH fiscal conservatives. They BOTH have or will have children serving in Iraq.

I'm telling you, folks, this is a grand slam that saw the ball hit out of the park from Coors field, sailing over CLOSED I-25, and bopping the anointed one in the noggin while he was spewing his worthless, garbage promises and dissing America.

You can darn well bet that McCain's camp went through her record with a fine tooth comb when they were searching for the VP selection.

Yes, they did and the only thing about some nutcase she had to deal with was found to be an empty case.

Good morning, Molly.

Prayers for everyone in Gustav's path. It appears that preparations are being made. I saw on F&F that 700 buses are ready for people, if needed.

Thanks for the links.

Morning all. Breakfast was a disaster, got involved on FR and forgot the bagel. I tend to toast mine on the George Foreman well it was like a dark brown biscuit by the time I got to it.

So had to put another one in. I had a New York Bagel Company cinnamon and raisin one. Actually I prefer ASDA’s own make but recently they have been pushing the New York ones. I suspect people buy them cause they are supposed to be “real American bagels” not an English copy.

Often though I think our tastes are different why not celebrate that and make good quality ones that are different not import the product or recipe.

Found out a bit more about the New York Bagel Co apparently they are Canadian owned and the UK operation is in Rotherham and they have renamed themselves New York Bagel Bakery.

That certainly looks better than my burnt bagel did. Though no sure about scrambled egg and pancake on same plate, bacon, pancake and maple syrup and even a sausage yet but do not think I am American enough for scrambled egg.

Scrambled egg and cheese grits yes, Toby would be proud of me :o)

I am a tiny bit worried about that police officer thing but hopefully she can quickly show she was in the right and bury that.

One of the things that is DRIVING ME NUTS is that the MSM is ENDLESSLY comparing her experience to the 'anointed one'.

HELLO....MSM..... Governor Palin, WHO HAS SIGNIFICANT EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE, ISN'T RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT! MSM!!!! HELLO.....your anointed one IS running for PRESIDENT AND THE FRAUD HAS NO EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE!!! HELLO....MSM....are you there???? HELLO....HELLO???????

I suppose it is the pro choice issue personally here though I find this culturally strange.

To me pro choice pro life is a moral choice and certainly in Britain I cannot think of anyone who would base their political allegiance around this issue.

I realise of course that in the US this is different I suspect mainly to do with how your government works with the 3 branches and the Supreme Court system of the President picking the justices etc and the Federal and States law way it works.

Though all of this said I still find it strange it just goes to show how and where you are bought up and in what system does affect how you behave and think, the nurture and nature thing but that is another subject all of its own.

To clarify the above though my position I would say is pro-life very similar to what GWB would say so some pro-lifers may disagree that I am pro-life.

Yes, snugs, I know. All I can say is that the McCain team investigated that, obviously, to the last detail, and apparently decided that it was an empty issue with no legs.

Morning Snugs!

Odd... I just fixed myself an English Muffin. (Bays... Sourdough)

I like bagels and lox, but it sure is hard to find it around the Midwest.

You like Palin?

Good morning/afternoon/evening, snugs.

I thought we were having bagels this morning. Greg worked in Long Island this past week. He wasn't able to buy bagels because of his schedule. Darn! Long Island bagels fresh from the bakery are good.

BTW, we are off Atkin's for the holiday weekend. I think I'm carbed out already.

I think you could well be right about the Clinton thing.

What though one wonders is the thinking. Does she hope even now that something will happen and she will come in at the last moment surely not. Or is it as Dick Morris has been saying all along that she is looking to 4 years time, McCain serving 4 years and then she returns as the Dem saviour but of course this may well have back fired with her now with the Palin pick of McCain's. In 4 years time she would be posed to run as President especially if it has been a successful term and with how things are going in Iraq and possible surge in Afghanistan etc it could well be a very successful 4 years. McCain may then decide not to re-run and put Palin forward citing her many successes in the first term.
