You are doing something right, the thread could be called
“Food for the soul and Thank you God for the beauty”.

Don’t stop, beauty is so needed today.

Another Chance
[You] have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him. —Colossians 3:10

For almost 100 years, a huge piece of flawed Carrara marble lay in the courtyard of a cathedral in Florence, Italy. Then, in 1501, a young sculptor was asked to do something with it. He measured the block and noted its imperfections. In his mind, he envisioned a young shepherd boy.

For 3 years, he chiseled and shaped the marble skillfully. Finally, when the 18-foot towering figure of David was unveiled, his student exclaimed to Michelangelo, “Master, it lacks only one thing—speech!”

Onesimus was like that flawed marble. He was an unfaithful servant when he fled from his master Philemon. But while on the run he came to know the Master Sculptor. As a changed man, he served God faithfully and was invaluable to Paul’s ministry. When Paul sent him back to Philemon, he commended him as one “who once was unprofitable to you, but now is profitable to you and to me” (1:11). He asked Philemon to receive Onesimus back as a brother (v.16).

Paul knew what it meant to be given another chance after past wrongs (Acts 9:26-28). He knew personally the transformation God can accomplish. Now he saw it in the life of Onesimus. The Lord can chisel His image on our flawed lives and make us beautiful and useful too.

Christ takes each sin, each pain, each loss,
And by the power of His cross
Transforms our brokenness and shame
So that our lives exalt His name. —D. De Haan

Our rough edges must be chipped away to bring out the image of Christ.

Welcome back. BTW, I'd say that Billie and Mama Bear (despite her pie--it's still great to eat--debacle)--in fact, the whole gang, performed marvelously well during your vacation.

Hi, PaL - we gave you a birthday party last Saturday, but we had to eat the cake without you. Hope you had a good one. I know you’re not here now and I’m talking to myself. Thanks for stopping by today! (in your red, white & blue) :)

Dang. I hope the cake was chocolate!

Graphic by Billie

Sack Race

Today’s the day, we’re in a line,
All bathing in the warm sunshine,
That time of year, the school sports day,
I’m entered in the class sack race.

Now teacher cries out “ON YOUR MARKS”,
My heart a thumping, hand on sack,
But Lucy goes off way to soon,
And tangles with the ‘egg and spoon’.

Our teacher yells “GET BACK IN LINE !”,
And starts us all a second time,
With fingers gripping to my sack,
I start to hop, and so does Jack.

So too does Mick, Kate, Ruth and Zack,
Lance, me and Lucy at the back,
I’ve now just one thing on my mind,
To be the first to cross the line.

But Jack is hopping super quick,
Along with Lance and Zack and Mick,
Like four bull frogs all hopping mad,
They’re boing boing boinging in their bags.

So Lance and Zack and Mick and Jack,
Are happily bouncing down the track,
But wait, CRASH ! WALLOP ! Jack and Mick,
Have formed a heap in front of Dick.

Now Dick is tumbling, so is Kate,
Like skittles in a summer fete,
So bouncing like a pogo stick,
I boing and bounce clean over Mick.

Now in the lead, I’ve line in sight,
I bounce and hop with all my might,
Then wearing broad grin on my face,Cry out
“I’ve won my first sack race”.

And, about my pie......*sigh* - something went wrong with the Cool Whip and it didn't hold it's shape on top of the pie. It tasted wonderful, but it looked a mess. Next time I will use whipped cream. I can't explain what happened with the Cool Whip, except I used the "extra creamy" and I stirred it to help defrost it. I think that took a lot of the fluffiness away. Anyway, it just had no volume to it and basically just ran all over the sides. Not pretty but still very yummy.
