Amen!
Oh, ‘Dita - I miss my mom too, hunny!!
My best friend (who I am caring for post surgery, here at my house), can tell the difference, too. I have tried to sneak in the ‘spray out of a can’ whipped cream, and that frozen stuff in plastic containers, and she always knows.
So, out comes the electric mixer, and the ‘heavy cream’ that comes in a small carton (for $10 - lol) and the sugar dispenser, and make the REAL stuff. (And, you know what? It really IS much better!)
Our Moms knew......................didn’t they?
Hubby always plants a larger garden than we can use. He has to try 5 or 6 different varieties of tomatoes so we get overwhelmed. We had lots of squash (doesn’t everyone?) and Italian peppers, but the corn did not produce this year. The cucumbers are starting to produce.
I wish you were here to take some of this off our hands.
I’m going to say goodnight.
Hope to see everyone tomorrow.
Sweet dreams.
Yes, they knew... a lot. And they took much of that ‘knowin’ with them. My mother was so funny the way she scoffed, “but it’s not REAL whipped cream.” My earlier post was a tribute to her...:-)
Oooh, I haven’t checked the price on that heavy cream in a while. Bless you for doing that for your friend...(((hugs))). I think you don’t add sugar until towards the end?
Yeah, this is why I love summer... all the great fresh summer produce. Except for the over-eager zucchini:o).
(My post was kinda a tribute to mine, too, and my precious grandma!)
Yes - I usually add the sugar at the end - after soft peaks begin to form.
Saving..Thanks for copying these wise words down, yorkie.
Zucchini? ‘Dita, when I had a garden, I LOVED the way those things took off! I would wait until they were a foot long, cut them in half, take out the seeds, make a ‘meatloaf’ with Italian sausage and ground beef, stuff the meat mixture into the zucchini, and bake the things on a cookie sheet with sides.
Then, when thoroughly cooked, cover both with marinara (spaghetti) sauce, and mozerella cheese, and bake about 20 minutes. Slice, and put on plate, cover with some of the excess sauce, and OMG what a delicious dinner, with a salad on the side.
You just made me think of something. One time I wanted to make lasagna, didn’t have the pasta but did have some of those large zucchinis. So, I sliced them medium thin and layered with the usual lasagna ingredients, although this was a meatless one. However, it turned out fabuloose.
‘Lasagna’ merely means ‘layered’... it doesn’t refer to the pasta:o)
Yeah, your recipe sounds wonderful too.
The recipe sounds interesting... thanks for idea fish hawk & for recipe yorkie
We have a pizza chain called Cici’s in our area. Salad/pasta/pizza buffet.. very resonable.
One of the offerings is Macaroni & cheese pizza. It was over a year before I tried it (seemed stupid) but now I get a few pieces every time I go there which is normally a few times a month.
thanks for listing these.. seem to recall it in an email maybe a year or so ago.
I enjoyed the artwork (Dali?).. some better than others. Bizarre can be sometimes fun
The protagonist travels millions of years into the future. There the world has grown cold and dark. As a bleak snow falls, he sees the last remnants of life awaiting extinction. Thoroughly sickened by the twilight of life on our planet, the scientist returns to the time of his origin to report his anguish.
The biblical view of the future is very different. It tells us that God is Lord over time itself: With the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day (2 Peter 3:8). We can be optimistic about the future because God will replace our world with a new one. In that new heaven and new earth we will experience blessed fellowship with our Creator for eternity (Rev. 21:1-4). Even now, Jesus is preparing a place for those who love Him (John 14:1-3), a place where there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying (Rev. 21:4).
If God has made this world so fair,
Where sin and death abound,
How beautiful beyond compare
Will paradise be found! Montgomery
Jesus is preparing a place for us and preparing us for that place.
