I have been reading the conversation between you two and I have nearly died laughing! What a fabulous story...M.B. sneaking into the plumbing dept. to try and buy a shower head and Nan catching her red-handed (like a child with its hand in the cookie jar). You two are so funny that I know your visit together will be a ball with many laughs! Maybe you can have some new stories for us when your visit is over!

We Are Connected
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. —Romans 12:5

An air-monitoring station atop a California mountain has detected wind-borne particles that drifted across the Pacific Ocean from coal-fired power plants and smelters thousands of miles away. Some experts predict that expanding economies in other nations could one day account for a third of the pollution in California. The US, however, remains the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases, and other countries are feeling the effects of America’s energy consumption.

An Associated Press report quoted atmospheric scientist Dan Jaffe: “There is no place where you can put away your pollution anymore.” Every nation shares the world’s atmosphere and is affected by the actions of others.

A similar principle is at work in the global community of those who follow Jesus Christ. We all have a stake in the lives of others because our actions, good and bad, affect every other Christian. In the body of Christ, each member belongs to all the others (Rom. 12:5). Because of that, we are urged to exercise our spiritual gifts (vv.6-8), and to be loving, faithful in prayer, and generous (vv.10-13).

Our obedience to the Lord may seem insignificant in the big picture, but it breathes freshness and life into the spiritual atmosphere of every believer.

We don’t live unto ourselves,
We’re part of one another;
For good or ill we touch a life
Of sister, friend, and brother. —D. De Haan

When believers influence each other for good, the body of Christ remains healthy.

The First Bull Run Battle map above is an original map, printed within days of the battle.
It is a leaf from an original Harper's Weekly Civil War newspaper.

On July 21, 1861, a dry summer Sunday, Union and Confederate troops clashed outside Manassas, Virginia, in the first major engagement of the Civil War, the First Battle of Bull Run.

Union General Irvin McDowell hoped to march his men across a small stream called Bull Run in the vicinity of Manassas, Virginia, which was well-guarded by a force of Confederates under General P. G. T. Beauregard. McDowell needed to find a way across the stream and through the Southern line that stretched for over six miles along the banks of Bull Run.

McDowell launched a small diversionary attack at the Stone Bridge while marching the bulk of his force north around the Confederates’ left flank. The march was slow, but McDowell's army crossed the stream near Sudley Church and began to march south behind the Confederate line. Some of Beauregard's troops, recognizing that the attack at Stone Bridge was just a diversion, fell back just in time to meet McDowell's oncoming force.

That's exactly what it was like! LOL.

Of course, Nan and my niece captured the 'replacing of the shower head' episode for all time. Jaycee, you just can't imagine how much fun they were having at my expense. LOL. I was sooooo embarrassed, but it ended up being one of the funniest times of my life. To put it in perspective, I'd say it was sort of like an old episode of "I Love Lucy". If laughter adds years to one's life, I say we all added on at least a decade. ;-)

I know we are going to have a wonderful time at Nan's this trip with lots of laughs and hugs and good times, but I doubt we will be able to top the shower repair fiasco. For my sake, and Nan's, I hope not! I am going to try hard not to break anything.

I still have some last minute packing and things to tend to in the yard before we leave tonight, so I had better quit playing here and get to work.

You two have a great day. :-)

LOL. Yes, we do have a lot of fun. When Lori and Amy came and brought Marissa, and Lori’s niece from N.C. came with her baby, we had a house full of fun. It was so hot when they were here, we had to do things that were air-conditioned. I pray that the weather is cooler this time.

We have enjoyed picking at Lori about the shower. I’m sure we will find some new stories to tease her about this time too. I have been so blessed with FRiends who become friends. Maggie was my “true” sistah, and we met in S.C. just before she became too sick to travel. When she died, it was very very difficult for me. She will always be in my heart. Lori is fast becoming dear to me also, as well as Amy. What a wonderful means of communication is the internet. (thanks algore).

Me and My Monkey
by Hannah Mehaffey (aged 9)

Me and my monkey
He can't talk
He is very unusual
I always take him for a walk

Me and my monkey
He can swing from tree to tree
He can swing upside down
As if he was set free

Me and my monkey
Looking at the sky
Standing on a bush
As if we could fly

OMG ..... Your are correct.

I checked the saved image and it says “By Billie”. It looks like I saved it in the wrong folder.

Sorry, Billie. Thank you for this cute graphic and the many others that you’ve contributed.

Lori, thank you for all the wonderful graphics that you have contributed.

It looks like I need to reorganize my folders. Darn it!!
