I caught Janis in the early 60’s playing a few clubs in Greenwich Village. She would come on stage with a fresh QUART of Southern Comfort, put it on a stool next to the mike, and by the time her set was finished, the bottle was somewheres between 1/2 and 3/4 empty. She was a BIG girl, and she had an amazing capacity for the booze..
