I'm so happy that they are doing well. Ours should be blooming this week , I hope.
Welcome to ATRW! You’re just in time for our Memorial Day cookout at Dog’s house.
I saw the headlines about that. So sad.
He, he, my two little chicks looking in my front door and just staring, cure as can be. I think one is a rooster but do not know how to sex them. The one I think is male has a bigger tail feathers and struts up a storm.
I sure hope the lord does not punish us with Obama but he has let us know we need to get rid of the AARP pubs that are up there now for sure, they can mess up a holiday.
Toby
It should be about dancing time for you? ;-)
HI! Don’t make yourself a stranger, join a chat.
Toby
You know, on a slow day we should all post meals like this, make me dream please (being I now weigh 109 pounds).
Toby
Make that 109 with a 2.
Amen.
Yup. It’s about 9 pm. I just came back from a Teacher’s farewell party. This year’s celebration dinners all feature national cuisine (as opposed to American or European or Aussie).
Yep, you're probably right, Toby! The males strut, fertilize, and supervise...the "girls" are in charge of production. Way of the world. LOL
Boy! Am I glad you added that 2 to the 109 lbs. Shocked I was....thinking those docs had taken out more than the law allowed. At 209 lbs. the ladies are gonna be chasing you w/their casseroles. LOL
Happy Memorial Day everybody. I've been busy planning a potluck for the people who are here for the summer, I'm expecting close to 30.
I too wanted to create some centerpieces for the tables but couldn't find any of the small flags or pinwheels I had envisioned. (Time only allowed brief decoration shopping as I've been helping daughter get ready to attend several more job fairs). I did find some patriotic tablecloths and napkins.
Anyway, I'm going to say a brief welcome, recognize our veterans and ask them to stand, then ask everybody else to stand and play a beautiful bugle rendition of "Taps" that we found on the internet and copied to a CD and then have a prayer that I partly composed and partly compiled from the internet.
During the meal I'm playing some wonderful background music from the 40's and 50's like Doris Day, Louis Armstrong, Billie Halliday, Perry Como etc. And swimming / water volleyball will be available after the meal.
Hope everybody has a safe and happy Memorial Day!
All gave some and some gave all.
THANK YOU to the men and women and their families who gave all. You will always be respectfully treasured.
God bless all those who have served and are serving now!
Amen.
Good Morning All.
The Chief is at the local Memorial Day Services and will meet the son and I at the finals for the Memorial Day Baseball Tournament. Please wish us luck as we are the underdogs.
Our sincerest thanks to all who have served, especially those who have made the greatest sacrifice. We are eternally in your debt.
We miss and love you Pop (CMSgt Thomas M. Garcia, USAF, NYANG,ret., 1925-2000)

Will do.

Yes!
Your day sounds wonderful PB -
Hope everyone enjoys this day of remembrance. I’m so thrilled that I finally made it to DC about 3 years ago, and can appreciate all that goes into the memorial to the unknown soldier. What dedication those men have, who guard it.
Hubby is off to golf with our son, so me and Maxx will hold down the fort, Maxx being my brave, velcro dog.
Good luck!
The day is is similar to your Veteran's and Memorial Day rolled into one but the main events are at the weekend the Saturday evening event at the Royal Albert Hall and the Sunday service at the Cenotaph attending. At these services all branches of the Service are represented including emergency and ancillary folk, the guides and Scouts also attend with their flags and even lay a reef at the Cenotaph.
As promised here is some information about our Remembrance Day or Poppy Day as many call it.
