The Hobbit Hole XXXVI - O! Water cold we may pour at need...

Posted on 05/03/2008 8:48:06 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Now I want country ham, fried egg, grits, and biscuits with red eye gravy.

No, I can’t eat things of that texture - mashed potatoes, oatmeal, anything that’s too mushy.

It is bad. The closest thing to country ham at the house is Canadian bacon and that just won’t do.

Well, I was born in Indiana and grew up in Pennsylvania so my not-southern-ness is rather strong...

Mine too, although I’ve been told I do sound “southern”, strange because I was born in Cleveland, 40 miles across the lake, as northern as it gets.

er, that should be “40 miles across the lake from Canada”

Next time you get a hankering for real bacon, try Burgers’ Smokehouse Peppered Country Bacon. It’s made (cured) just down the road in California, Missouri, and it is most excellent! You can get it at Price Chopper. LSA

Japanese question: I know that Maru has to do with "ship" (the only example I can think of is the Starfleet Training Exercise Kobiyashi Maru), and that -chan is a suffix of endearment as in the vey weird cartoon Shin-chan...

Therefore...

Does Maruchan, makers of Ramen, mean something like "Dear Ship", or is it a coincidence?

Okay, I’ll keep an eye out for it.

I think that film works. Thesunroom was 2-3 degrees cooler than outside when I got home. Usually it’s a bit hotter.

Glad to hear the film works; we’ve seen the adds and wondered how well it worked. Now we know. So, when we will hear you on the radio saying how well it worked over here in Perfect Village.

Say, heard a couple of neighbor cities got in the top 20 most wonderful places to live..How bout that. Don’t think anything on our side of stateline got honorable mention even. :-)

My film application wasn’t all that great...well...it got better. As long as it’s “reasonable” I can live with it. It cost me $60 in film to do one side using the clearest film they had.
