Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
I believe that'll be sufficient.
When does the bar open? I told my office that the fact that I'm not passed out under my desk with an empty Smirnoff bottle in one hand and an empty Jack bottle in the other is proof that there's a Supreme Being.
Oh great. An earworm makes my day complete...
Mine isn’t much different. I just wish I had better ways of dealing with it.
Heh...thanks. On my way to pick up the Mrs.
Yes, it is. We've had to take cover in the basement a couple of times, since we've been here. We don't get tornadoes often here in MA, but we had several of them during the year we lived in Indiana. Paul was our only child at that time, and he and I spent several bad weather sessions in the basement.
It is nice to know if the house fell down on us the fire department would have to dig a couple feet deeper to pull out our mangled corpses
I’ll put Cecil back on the Parish Prayer list, and I’ll say a Rosary for him.
We went out there and he went through the fence and up this tree.
And then he just stayed there and looked at us.
But no we didn't take the shot. I don't know if you can see the flag on the flagpole of the house across the street, but it's right about under the end of the barrel in the picture. And in between, on the other side of the trees, is the road. Ordinarily not a real busy road, but there's a paving crew out there this morning and a lot of backed up traffic, it's only about 50 yards or so... and we decided it wasn't a safe direction to shoot.
What do you all think? Regardless of the paving crew out there who might be unnerved by a shot that close, otherwise, would it be a safe shot with the road and house there, with #8 shot? I just really don't know if it would go that far or not, so we opted for staying out of the news if possible.
I sprayed him with the hose and he came down, but ambled off into the brush, but ecurbh was already late for work so we didn't send out the hounds to track him. ;~)
Er hon you are not supposed to say things like that out loud. It tends to make me nervous.
When HE speaks, one should listen! Hope Nana gets her potassium up!
Oh, and I just got a letter from WalMart, where I'd been filling my prescriptions. The letter is saying that some of the Digitek (digoxin) pills they sold were actually double strength, and could cause abnormal heart rhythms. It made me think of your Step-Father. Has he been on Digitek?
I'd been on it, and when I saw the Doc last month, he said I could go off it, so I didn't refill my prescription. At that point, I had five pills left, so I cut each in half and weaned myself off of it. Interestingly, though, it was the day after I'd taken the last one that I developed my heart palpitations. Don't know if the Digitek had anything to do with it, or not, though. I'd think that if it were going to affect me, it would have done so earlier when I was taking the full pill.
Yikes! Do the sirens go off when they’ve actually spotted a tornado, or just when they are possible? I’ve never lived in a place that had tornado sirens.
If they’ve spotted them I think. We checked the other night and a tornado had been spotted north of us. I don’t think it touched down.
The dogs did not like the sirens, they added some howling of their own.
I bet. :~)
They also go off for severe storm warnings. I think with tornados it is only once they spot one though. Or in this recent case it was one showing up on radar.
How about live-trapping him, and then take care of business at point-blank range? That's what my cousin does for raccoons in an area less built-up than yours.
Thanks.
We’ve considered live trapping. It’d be easier, if less sporting, than trying to scramble out there if and when we happen to see them. Just haven’t gotten around to it.
Live traps at the feed store are around $50.
But I read on the internet that a home-made trap can be built by tipping a garbage can at about 45 degrees and leaning it against something the possum can climb up on, and then baiting it with cat food. The possum will climb in, tip the can upright, and can’t jump out.
I'm not sure. They recently took him off a med he's been taking since the New Zealand trip (the Papa died - Jr. broke his hand - brother had a heart catherization - the year Luke's daycare burned down year). That might be what caused it.
