The Hobbit Hole XXXVI - O! Water cold we may pour at need...

Posted on 05/03/2008 8:48:06 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

The folks at the coffee house I go to some Saturdays would probably like to have whatever it is they're using for the face...they are big into pouring pretty shapes, but I'm guessin' would find this cool, too. ;-) I always kind of hate the first stir or sip, 'cause I have to wreck it.

They just pour the shapes, but I guess you can do a lot more than that. Apparently there are actual latte art competitions and things. YouTube has latte art videos. Who would have thunk it? (Incidentally...Dueling Banjos strikes me as an odd choice for the musical accompaniment...but maybe that's just me.)

Okay, I may be able to top you both on the dreams. Last week I woke up one morning with an earworm for a song from my dream. Trouble is, as far as I can tell, the “song” doesn’t even exist. But two lines of it were playing in my head over and over.

Fittingly tho, the second line was “And I have been blessed with disaster...”

Hey! Last night while the boys were at TCDTS, Steve and I were sitting in the living room. We knew a storm was coming and all of a sudden the tornado sirens started going off.

Steve jumped up and started putting on his shoes and he got down to TCDTS in I bet 30 seconds. He helped get all the kids filed into a safe room then called me. He told me that one of the guys from the church saw a funnel cloud. So I ran and got our important papers, hand-held weather radio and my cell phone and wrapped up in a blanket in the bathtub till the sirens stopped and Steve called and gave me the all clear.

Pretty nerve-wracking!

*Almost* all pens that take cartridges can use a converter. To me, that just makes more sense than fiddling with a syringe and all that.

I just don’t write much by hand these days. Maybe someday I will be mostly I use my computer.

Actually... that’s why I really want one of those new Ipod Touches. I want to use it as a PDA and little assistant.

I wrote a grocery list with the pen Rosie sent me the other day and felt kinda bad about it! It deserves to write nicer things than that! Heh heh!

Well, that can be quite disconcerting when it’s playing over and over in your head all morning long...

My neighbor and his kid just dumped out several hundred aluminum cans in their front yard and are in the process of flattening them by running over them with their car.

That’s one way to do it, I guess.

When you get that bit of land, you’re gonna have to build yourself a ‘safe room’. When my sister and her husband were living in Tulsa several years ago, they were looking at houses, and the Realtor called them ‘fraidy rooms’. I can certainly see the wisdom in having one! If I were building one, I’d make the walls of it out of insulated concrete forms, either tied into the slab with rebar, if it’s new construction, or connected by strong bolts to an existing slab.
