Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
*snicker*
I’d look for a finch feeder. They’re small and bright.
There are lots of sites dedicated to hummingbird flowers. I don’t think I’m that dedicated...
I think they liked the salvias I had last year...and they always came to Mom’s Bee Balm flowers.
I need some flowers...my front yard is pretty sad this year.
Maybe I’ll get something to attract butterflies. The pups go crazy whenever a butterfly comes past. They start barking and jumping and it’s very cute.
Many flowers that attract hummingbirds also attract butterflies. You plant a butterfly garden. Ask at your local nureries or plant stores or talk to your extension agent about what would grow best in your area.
Ok, so I need flowers that A. attract butterflies and B. enjoy being trampled, dug at, peed on, and eaten by dogs.
I think those are usually referred to as weeds.
(get a couple of Shepherd’s Hooks and some hanging baskets)
What he said.
I think I’ll likely put some nice red geraniums in the basket this year. They’re pretty rugged. So are petunias - even more so. I’m not sure how attractive petunias are to birds and butterflies, though.
Hmm, the hooks and hanging ones are a good idea. Might have to hit the store for some.
They were the only thing that really worked around Cisco. He’s *finally* getting to a stage where I can put a few flower pots on the steps without him dragging the pot around the yard...but if he had an accomplice, all bets would be off. ;-)
The hooks at least remove most of the temptation. If he really jumped he could get to them, but it’s not really as interesting when they’re not starting off at his sniffing/chewing level.
as long as you call ahead... wouldn't want tuh have any "fratricide"...
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... SOCOM 16...
nightshade...
The world is coming to an end. I was unable to find my 2006 tax receipt to license the Highlander. I had the 2007,2005,2004,2003,2002,and 2001, but no 2006. I went on-line and printed out a new one. First hint that the world was coming to an end.
Then I go to the DMV and there is a parking space, in front of the building, by the door. Second hint the world is coming to an end.
I go in and pull my green ticket, expecting a long, long wait. The license renewal woman is in the lobby solicting for people needing their license renewed. I was the only one. I was in and out in 5 minutes.
It’s been really nice knowing you all.
Ok...we’ve all got our life jackets on.
Or at least pop the right colored smoke when you get to the gate.
Sounds like you had a good day, overall!
So, you think I’m kidding??? In the last seven days, the dishwasher had to be repaired, the iron had to be replaced, and the telephone line had to be spliced. I was prepared for the worst, and it didn’t happen!
Yes, overall, it was an excellent day!
Heh heh! I’ve had whole months like that!
Glad you had something work out positively!

Pace yourself though :)
