Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
My native state of Ohio’s gone even worse...
heh, yup, ‘carnies’..thanks but except for the traffic, it should be relatively calm. The carnival is on the other side of downtown, hopefully so is the ‘campground’.
Glad to hear the duet was well received. We knew it would be.
Next Saturday is an informal shoot at fella’s back yard range and been reloading up my .38s. 4.8 gr Unique 141 gr truncated lead bullet, in preparation. Shot it at the indoor range, seems like a good load. The bullets are from a friend’s relative, apparently from the late 50’s/60’s judging from the cover drawing. Got several boxes of bullets from him. Also been putting .45s in half moon clips, heh, the old W/G will again see some ‘action’. You’re more than welcome to drive up, there’s always room for one more and I know their will be extra ‘brats’ hot from the grill.
I don't know if I told you, but my nephew, Alexander, the Apache Longbow pilot, to whom you sent the cool knife, which he really liked, by the way, decided to leave the helicopter bidness. He couldn't go above the rank of Captain, and still continue to fly, so he decided to join Special Forces. He did the training and 'graduated' late last year. He'll be heading over to Iraq in a few weeks, as Company Exec. but will spend much of his time in the Green Zone. At least that's where his Mom and Dad hope he'll be most of the time.
OK, critter report as of nine o’clock...though I don’t expect you’ll get to read it until you get back!
I went over and hung out from about six-thirty until now. Barkley and Cisco played and played - hopefully Barkley didn’t pull any muscles. ;-) They did do a bit of a number on the lawn, as usual.... They also spent a long time running around and around the tree by the drive. No attempts by the moron to take further dips in the fish pond - the chair seems to have done the trick. ;-)
I let the kittens out for a short while when all the dogs were out, but I was kind of worried that Barkley would discover the food containers if I didn’t supervise somewhat, so they weren’t out all that long - fifteen minutes, maybe. Right before I left, I opened a new can of food, and they all chowed down and were starting to settle in for a nap as I was going out the door.
Nobody was all that happy when we went (except Gidget, who was pretty much indifferent...and ready to take her chair back, thank you very much), and Barkley did a bit of moaning and complaining as I was going down the drive. Hopefully he settles in before too long. He was fine when I got there after having been alone a few hours, and everyone got to go out for another potty break before I left, so I expect they’ll be OK. I did take the empty cat food can away with me, as I figured even out of reach, it’d be a temptation. Probably overcautious...oh well.
I’m glad to hear the knife was appreciated. The knives might not be as “l33t” as some fancy ones, but they work just as good. And they come with our hopes and prayers attached, even if you can’t see them.
Thanks for sitting with them... We appreciate it! All was well when we got home. :~)
That’s just our county though. Some counties are more reasonable. Iowa is may-issue and the group we went with Saturday is part of an organization trying to change that to shall-issue. Or at least standardize the requirements in law. Right now sheriffs have way too much discretion.
The 5-7-10 yard stuff we did this weekend seems much more reasonable, defense-wise.
If I get the foodplots in this week, I may just take you up on that... Got milo, sunflower, lablab that havetuh get in quick...
I'm sure there's a joke about a broad side of a barn in there somewhere but it's Monday and I haven't had my coffee yet.
Oh, good! Glad to hear that.
Hope you guys had a great time!
Mornin’ folks. I’m back in Fangorn. But I’m signing off this morning since I’m on a loaner computer. My laptop came up with “operating system not found” this morning. I’ll update more either from home or later.
Things went as well as can be expected. Mrs. was navigating mine fields all weekend. And, if I do say so myself, did so masterfully.
I now own two HUGH Peace Lillies. Please teach me not to kill them.
See y’all later.
That’s easy... if they die, I’ll kill yuh...
You may not need to. After all that we went through with Nana,I made the mistake of trying to reassure Jr. by telling him how much life insurance the Mrs. and I carry.
In other news, my laptop officially died. Can’t recover anything. Fortunately most everything was backed up.
You did tell him Luke gets everything, right?
~sigh~
Abby has an appointment with the vet for 5:30 on Thursday (it’s the first we could get with the one who saw her before). She’s still not moving. Still hiding. And still using the floor instead of her box. She’s also not bathing herself.
If he gives us any hope, we’ll delay it. But I don’t anticipate that he will.
what were you thinkin’?...
I give yuh 8 months...
