I don't know if I told you, but my nephew, Alexander, the Apache Longbow pilot, to whom you sent the cool knife, which he really liked, by the way, decided to leave the helicopter bidness. He couldn't go above the rank of Captain, and still continue to fly, so he decided to join Special Forces. He did the training and 'graduated' late last year. He'll be heading over to Iraq in a few weeks, as Company Exec. but will spend much of his time in the Green Zone. At least that's where his Mom and Dad hope he'll be most of the time.
OK, critter report as of nine o’clock...though I don’t expect you’ll get to read it until you get back!
I went over and hung out from about six-thirty until now. Barkley and Cisco played and played - hopefully Barkley didn’t pull any muscles. ;-) They did do a bit of a number on the lawn, as usual.... They also spent a long time running around and around the tree by the drive. No attempts by the moron to take further dips in the fish pond - the chair seems to have done the trick. ;-)
I let the kittens out for a short while when all the dogs were out, but I was kind of worried that Barkley would discover the food containers if I didn’t supervise somewhat, so they weren’t out all that long - fifteen minutes, maybe. Right before I left, I opened a new can of food, and they all chowed down and were starting to settle in for a nap as I was going out the door.
Nobody was all that happy when we went (except Gidget, who was pretty much indifferent...and ready to take her chair back, thank you very much), and Barkley did a bit of moaning and complaining as I was going down the drive. Hopefully he settles in before too long. He was fine when I got there after having been alone a few hours, and everyone got to go out for another potty break before I left, so I expect they’ll be OK. I did take the empty cat food can away with me, as I figured even out of reach, it’d be a temptation. Probably overcautious...oh well.
I’m glad to hear the knife was appreciated. The knives might not be as “l33t” as some fancy ones, but they work just as good. And they come with our hopes and prayers attached, even if you can’t see them.
