Good morning!
2 primaries tomorrow.
Rev. Wright gave an astonishing, jaw-dropping speech before the NAACP last night. Will it be covered by the MSM? Is this the kind of speech we need to get beyond the race issue - Obama's first position during this campaign season, OR to confront honestly this country's racial history - Obama's second , post-Wright position, during this campaign season?
I understand the Rev. will be talking at the National Press Club this morning....covered probably by CSPAN.
Good news, indeed for you and daughter!
It’s never easy, is it? Like breaking up when you’ve been dating someone.
Will daughter live with you in TX?
Mornin' LL
Know what you mean about leaving a long attended church.
We’ve left an ELCA Lutheran church. Will try a Missouri Synod.........Our kids go to a large mega church and love it.
Oh Molly. I know from personal experience what this is like. I’m sorry you’ve had to reach this decision but know that you’ve given it much careful thought and prayer.
When I left the last mainstream church we belonged to, I wrote letters explaining our reasons (which had to do with the larger denomination antics and uber-liberal rhetoric) and I mailed them to each of the three ministers, the head of the Deacons, and head of my Worship Committee. I wrote the letters because unfortunately, I didn’t trust the senior minister to fully or accurately explain our positions and reasons for being upset with what was going on.
I never heard one word from anybody. No one contacted us to express regret at our decision, try to challenge it or even say goodbye and wish us well. So, that was it.
We continue to visit churches in hopes of finding a new church home. Our biggest complaint about many of the churches anymore is the praise music which isn’t our cup of tea. (You and I might have an interesting discussion about the impact of praise music on church music and worship sometime but we’ll save it for later.)
I’m sorry this is happening now when you are having such difficulties with your mom. I’ll keep you in my prayers.
Freepmail me anytime if you’d like to.
Temporarily yes. While she looks for a job.
Mornin’ Snarlin!
I like the praise music but would miss the old hymns and reverence of worship in a smaller church.........Messages are wonderful in the kids’ church, and it’s Biblically based......no PC stuff, which is good, but I don’t think it’s the best for hubby and me.
The church we’ve been visiting regularly has a more traditional service where there are hymns mixed with praise music. Plus it’s the early service (8:15) which we like.
The minister is good there too.
Prayers lifted. The prayers here at ATRW are very powerful!
Nite nite!
HA! I was in politics for 24 YEARS, in law enforcement..
Reparations? Well, I have been reading that the largest slave owners were the blacks themselves...how do they want that handled?
My friend Vicky tells me that if somewhere, hundreds of years ago, her ancestors hadn't been brought here, she wouldn't be an American - living her dream - she would be living in an African village somewhere.
I personally am sick and tired of hearing all these AMERICA HATING, "give me my 15 minutes of fame" JERKS on the morning/evening news!!!!
What denomination is that church, or is it independent?
(((hugs))) I haven’t been able to back read the thread but know your Mom isn’t well. I am keeping you close in prayer.
I agree, Bev, and I like your friend, Vicky!
I know you must have put reasonalbe thought to it. Love you.
Baptist
Nope!No slave owners in my family. I've asked. Just the opposite.
Thanks for listening to me rant :-) I am off to the Clinic.
