YOWIE hunter Paul Compton has long believed a giant animal lives in the Glen Innes district - and he claims he finally has photos to prove it. Two days before Christmas, Mr Compton set up a wild view trail camera in an area north west of Glen Innes he has been watching for some time. A week later he returned, finding the camera - triggered by movement - had shot 921 images, including two showing a blurred black figure he claims to be the elusive animal.
There had been a lot of activity there - rocks moved, broken tree limbs - Id left a couple of cooked chops in a plastic bag in a tree about eight foot of the ground as bait, and when I returned it had been ripped apart, he said.
Mr Compton estimates the shadowy figure to be about 35m from the camera, and estimates its height to be about (4 foot six inches) - I took my son out and got him to stand in the same place and hes about the same height.
He says he believes the animal is a descendant of the giant ancient ape Gigantapithicus, which was in Asia tens of thousands of years ago.
Ive got hair at home thats been identified by Dr Henner Fahrenbach from Oregon Regional Primate Research Centre in America who believes it to be a high primate and identical to the type of hair belonging to the (American) Big Foot or Sasquatch.
Mr Compton, who has plaster casts of footprints, has become somewhat of an authority on big animals, and in October will be a guest speaker at the three day Mid American Big Foot Research Foundation conference in Oklahoma to talk about big animals in Australia.
Meanwhile, two commercial television current affairs programs are looking at the recently snapped photos.
Theres never been a picture before, this could really put Glen Innes on the map, he said.
It was Rosie O'Donnel. She was on a camping trip. She was grateful for the pork chops.
I clicked on the link and saw a photo of a photo. Bear maybe? From what I saw.
A photo of a man holding a photo is not very convincing.
I doubt it. Most likely a descendant of homo-erectus.
Interesting, too bad the images weren’t better. Maybe next time he’ll use a web cam. ;’)
I live in a deep forest. Nothing I throw outside that is the least bit edible lasts until morning.
Yeah. As the hometown of dufuses that think a blurry picture of a bear is some kind of "bigfoot".
But, wait. He has plaster casts of footprints, hair samples and some stories about stolen pork chops.
How come no videos showing the footprints in context with broken tree branches or of the alleged plastic bag, when it was placed and after it was discovered burgled, that was ripped apart?
If you want people to believe, you have to work a lot harder, or lay off the hootch a little bit longer.
“believes it to be a high primate and identical to the type of hair belonging to the (American) Big Foot or Sasquatch.
But how do they know what is identical to something they’ve never proven to begin with????
I eat up cryptozoology information with a spoon but we sure do get more than our share of nuts and liars.
I agree.
I’m not enjoying that view...
I agree that the shape looks bearish, but its that front left paw length that gives it hope. Wish better photos were available rather than a pic of his pic.
Note: this topic is from 04/14/2008. Thanks dragonblustar. There was a link at Daily Mail, a trailcam vid or frame from it, but the article was gone or their own link was bad. Here's a YT from October:
