I love birdhouses.
I should find some that I have saved and put borders or frames around them.
James Whitcomb Riley - A Summer Afternoon
A languid atmosphere, a lazy breeze,
With labored respiration, moves the wheat
From distant reaches, till the golden seas
Break in crisp whispers at my feet.
My book, neglected of an idle mind,
Hides for a moment from the eyes of men;
Or lightly opened by a critic wind,
Affrightedly reviews itself again.
Off through the haze that dances in the shine
The warm sun showers in the open glade,
The forest lies, a silhouette design
Dimmed through and through with shade.
A dreamy day; and tranquilly I lie
At anchor from all storms of mental strain;
With absent vision, gazing at the sky,
“Like one that hears it rain.”
The Katydid, so boisterous last night,
Clinging, inverted, in uneasy poise,
Beneath a wheat-blade, has forgotten quite
If “Katy DID or DIDN'T” make a noise.
The twitter, sometimes, of a wayward bird
That checks the song abruptly at the sound,
And mildly, chiding echoes that have stirred,
Sink into silence, all the more profound.
And drowsily I hear the plaintive strain
Of some poor dove . . . Why, I can scarcely keep
My heavy eyelids—there it is again—
“Coo-coo!”—I mustn't—”Coo-coo!”—fall asleep!

If I did serious stuff from the heart as Poetgal26 said, I'd probably have tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat.
I have been known to tear up at a song like this one: Lamb of God
That’s a good one—with its little spacemen mice. LOL!
I Wrote a Poem a Few Weeks Ago about One of the Silly Turtles I Snapped a Pic of, and Finally Got it Ready to Post, Lol.

Thanks, Yorkie.
That is cute.
You've got a great mind for writing!
I LOVE it, Meg.
Thank you. I wish we had bluebirds. :-(
LOL! I love it! Charming, Kitty!
I wish I had them at my house, too.
Fewz, the Video 'Lamb of God' you Posted is Beautiful. Meg, your #1583 is Outstanding!
Thank you, Meg! : )
Cute picture and poem, Kitty Mittens.
I get so much enjoyment from the sounds and sights of nature.
Last week, a male Finch came to the nest with the young finches. From my kitchen window I watched quite a scuffle. I’m not sure what the intruder’s intentions were, but the mama and papa ran him off at least 5 times.
Maybe he was saying .... these kids are old enough to move on ... I need this nest.
The young ones have flown the coop. There will be others to watch soon as there is a mama on a nest now. I think another nest has more babies.
I need to remove the nests this summer but I hate to because the finches will be back next year looking for a place to rent.
Thank you for sharing your picture and your poem.
Have a Terrific Thursday!
I loved the picture, too!
Thank you for the link, Fewz. I can see why you would tear up.
The song and the video are wonderful.
;o)
Thank you, Kitty. How’s your new doggie doing?
Thank you. I would have been back sooner but all of a sudden my computer is moving like molasses in January and I keep getting security warnings. Don’t know what has happened but I’ll do a scan and hope for the best.
Meg, my Dog is Doing Well, but she Wants So Much to be Untied so she can Play with the Dog Next Door. It Hurts my Heart to have to Keep her Confined until Next Tuesday. :( But by then she should be Over her Surgery, and her Rough and Tumble Playing with the Neighbor's Dog won't Pose a Danger of Rupturing the Sutures.
Lol, it's Looking Like her Name may just Remain 'Doggie!' My Husband Likes that Name, and Doggie Likes it, but it's just Sort of Silly, Lol! : ) : )
Oh how fun to have those birds nesting nearby!
Doggie is not a silly name..What ever fits is fine..I know she will be glad when healing is complete so she can play. I am so happy she has you!
Looks like our 80 percent chance of rain has dropped to 40 ..I thought we would have storms later..
My back feels better so it is time to unload the rest of the groceries..Have a great day.
