Carly Smithson, whose recording contract sparked controversy, was the surprising loser last night on "Idol."

Evidence of why I initially avoided this popularity contest. :-p

My two favorite performances of the night ended up in the bottom 2. Overall, Syesha's still my girl. Carly has been sporadic throughout the competition, so her elimination was inevitable and not as painful. I will miss her accent though. Good luck on your singing career, Carly. :-)

Hopefully my (other) girl Brooke will pull it together for next week, although two false starts in the competition has got to affect her confidence, and it's showing.

One cannot see Jason going too much further with the Davids ahead of him.

You know, there is just something not quite right about this headline.

Ex-Idol Constantine Toots His Skin Flute

http://www.tmz.com/2007/12/31/ex-idol-constantine-toots-his-skin-flute/

The long-haired lothario was the star attraction at Oneida Bingo in Oneida, Wisc., where he tried to answer questions about musical instruments — only people kept walking in front of him with trays of food. Pass the tater tots!

If you lose on “Idol” ... you can still win at bingo.

A little Jennifer Hudson Update

Fergie, Jennifer Hudson Sign On For ‘Sex And The City’ Soundtrack, Songs will open and close flick.

http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1585312/story.jhtml

Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda have opened their arms to welcome two new, high-profile women into the “Sex and the City” fold, director Michael Patrick King revealed to Entertainment Weekly, spilling details on the flick’s soundtrack — which includes songs by Fergie and Jennifer Hudson.

Hudson, of course, doubles as the film’s biggest new cast member as well, a lucky-in-life, unlucky-in-love assistant named Louise that Hudson told MTV News was “a young, sweet girl ... in love with love.”

She’s the last one in, and will be given the honor of being the last one out, as King revealed her track, “All Dressed Up in Love,” will play over the film’s end credits. According to EW, the song was written by MC Jack Splash and Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley.

“She sings it like nobody’s business,” King told the mag of Hudson’s performance.

Fergie, meanwhile, recorded the film’s opening number, an entirely new song called “Labels & Love.”

According to King, the singer feared she’d be too busy with two new singles to record the tune. But when New Line (which is releasing “Sex”) showed her the film, she changed her mind.

Of the opening, King told the mag, “It’s an entirely new song with lyrics, but it has the ‘Sex and the City’ theme as the DNA — on steroids.”

Little is known about the plot of the film, although star Sarah Jessica Parker did hint to MTV News earlier this year that a large portion of it would concern a huge “loss.”

LOL~ We had this lady bring her small son into the nursery at church and told us his name was Reverend Bluejeans. We asked her where she got the name and she said that her favorite song was Reverend Bluejeans and that's what she named her son. She told us who wrote the song and sang it. We finally figured out that she was referring to Forever in Blue Jeans. At least she didn't call the youngster Forever.

Common mistake for that song, but I've never heard of someone naming their kid after it.

Could it be possible Brooke knows she should have been hitting the road instead?

Brooke has been given NINE lives I tell ya! I do like her, but there is no way in hades she should still be in this compitition. I think she now has an obligation to bring it up several notches. She's got to go for it everytime.

If I was her, with her musical background, I'd be totally embarrassed if I tried to play it safe from here on out, and didn't absolutely strive with all my might to do the very best I could possible. I would feel I needed to show I at least deserved to be there!

Show them the music Brooke, not your freaking emotionally imbalanced gotta-be-perfect personality!

Bring what you got, not what you think you got!

Look at water—it exists in three different forms: solid, liquid and gas. But it’s all water.

Very good point. When I explain this concept to my girls I use an egg. There are 3 parts to the egg, (shell, yolk and egg white) all different in form but combined in one egg. Seems to help a little....

In Matt. 5:17, 18 Jesus says he does not come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth shall pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. In that verse what was to be fulfilled was the death, burial and ressurection of Christ. Upon his death a new will or covenant would replace the old covenant, this is prophesied in Jeremiah 31. The old covenant or the Law of Moses in which the 10 commandments are written were written for the Jewish people. Gentiles were not offered salvation under this law. Abraham was told that under his seed all nations would be blessed. Christ came through the seed of Abraham. His death brought a new will, law, covenant that would bring salvation to all nations (Jews, Gentiles as long as they followed His commandments) Upon Christ's death all was fulfilled so the old law passed away and the new law or covenant that was prophesied in Jeremiah is in place. When Paul is telling us in Hebrews that the "law has passed away, he is talking about the old law of Moses. The Promise of God was that all men would receive salvation through his Son and the new covenant. If we were still under the Law of Moses, we would be required to sacrifice the blood of bulls and goats to sanctify sin, Christ shed his perfect blood so that would pass away. That is why Paul says that the old law was nailed to the cross. Likewise he says though that should we forget the law? God forbid we should know it so that it will give instruction and morality through learning obedience to God's will. Jesus went further in his teaching of the 10 commandments because he said Not only shall thou not kill but if you hate your brother you commit murder in your heart already. Remember the Pharisees were strict adherents to the law but they did not have love and kindness in their hearts therefore they were hypocritical in their religion. So the answer to your question is that Paul does not contradict what Jesus is saying, he is teaching what Jesus is teaching and just reminding the Jewish people that they are no longer the chosen nation, that the Gentiles have been offered salvation through Jesus' fulfillment of the prophesy. The old law has passed and a new covenant or testament is now in place.
