Oh, one more thing. Top three and their parades. I think before that it was a given that the top 3 would be the two Davids and Carly, so, who takes that third spot now? I’m hoping Syesha. I can at least tolerate listening to her.

I agree. DC gets the vast majority of Carly’s votes.

You and I disagree about Syesha. IMO, she’s stayed several weeks too long.
I think Brooke moves into 3rd place, vote-wise. She could be a spoiler, but I don’t think so.
Castro could also be a spoiler, but I hope not.
The above opinions are worth as much as you paid for them, maybe less.

Brooke and Dreads are my two favorites, too. I like their singing style and their sweet personalities. I was soooooooo happy last night that they were both safe. David C. is very talented and David A. is a cute kid with a nice voice—but neither make me swoon. ;)

The big thing is do we really want Cook to win? It's always nice to win, but every year we are reminded why its not always a good thing.
Does anyone know if the contracts are different for 1st, 2nd and the others? How far down do you have to go to not be affected? Are all top 10 or 12 bound tightly?

There is always a reason to be nasty.
Let's say you direct a remark to someone who said something and a third person comes on to tell you THEY didn't say it. Now that's reason number one.
Let's say you're judging a talent contest to see who gets a million dollar contract and one of the judges says, "I voted for her because she's cute," depriving the most talented one of the million dollars. That's reason number two.
Let's say a bunch of people claim a public forum topic as their own private domain and decide they prefer a group hug environment over anyone coming in and being "disagreeable. That is reason number 3 and sufficient in my mind for pouring some gin into the punch bowl.
Shall I go on or should we just leave it alone, as I tried to do some 10 hours ago, until you woke up?

Dread has 1 good performance, several mediocre, and one terrible one, but the pre-teens with their speed dialers could take him all the way. It's a talent show nightmare just like the vote for the worst web site.
You can see from some comments on this thread that everything but singing talent is important to some voters.
Let's hope honesty and talent will prevail.

YES. That's the one that keeps sticking in my mind for him to do as well. Not sure why, but it does. Glad someone else thinks so, too. :) I know why. :-) Ever since I heard Chris Isaak's version of it in the mid-90s, I always wondered who else could do that arrangement justice. Now I know! I think DC is terrific, and don't see the condescension, ever since he lowered his chin while singing.

As much as you like Neil Diamond is there anyone he might sing with that you would refuse the purchase the song/CD?

Tattoo Girl and Blondie should be fighting it out for first place, instead through the help of misogynist Paula, they have consistently been in the bottom for no good reason and now Carly is gone. This is the best crop of singers ever and the judges should have STFU instead of letting their gums flap.
If the judges want Baby Elmo or Flock of Seagulls to win they should just offer them contracts now instead faking some sort of BS contest. Fork this show!

Baby Elmo or Flock of Seagulls ..............LOL!
You're ready for prime time.

Agree. And even though Ruben won in Season 2, I’d have to say that Clay did become a star. He’s sold out arenas - Ruben hasn’t. Don’t get me wrong - I like Ruben, but he’s got a different, more relaxed vibe.
I saw Carrie open for Keith Urban about a month ago... an awesome show.

There's only been two winners that have become stars. There have been plenty that did NOT win, but went on to be stars. Just a few are Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson (Broadway), Tamyra (Broadway), Lakisha (Broadway), Dianna DeGarmo (Broadway), Aiken (though this new release will tell us if he has any staying power, since he took a hiatus), I think I would add Pickler to this group because I think she will do well in country.
It's too bad there isn't a way to compare each of the contestants with their record sales from their first albums, to see how each of them has done.
While Fantasia went on to Broadway, she made headlines for NOT showing up for work/the show and when she did, she dissed her fans.

Funny you mention the Ode to Joy. We got our one-year-old twins a toy piano for Christmas, and that is always what I end up playing on their little piano — the Ode to Joy! (They haven’t played it back for me yet, though. :)

I think it could be a signature moment for DC, doing SOlitary Man, and playing it on a 12-string. WOW.

Good choices for the Idols...as long as nobody does "Forever in Blue Jeans." Michael Johns could have sung "Coming To America." ;)
What about "Song Sung Blue" and "I am I Said?"
