That’s great. I hope you got a good deal and you enjoy it.
I agree with you Jason and Brooke were worst tonight.
My rankings:
I’d rate the top three performances pretty even.
1. Carly(Glad to see her look like she was actually enjoying singing for once. It wasn’t perfect, but I thought it was one of her better performances)
2.Syesha(First performance of hers that I can recall really liking. She was totally in her element.)
3. David C.(Good perfomance—I just prefer him singing other types of songs.)
4. David A.(Agree with Simon that performance was forgetable. Also wondering if David’s voice is beginning to wear because he sounded very thin and breathy in the softer sections of the song.)
5. Jason(Very close to getting the bottom ranking. If Brooke hadn’t forgotten her lyric or even if she had forgotten it and smoothly continued with her song, I would have put Jason at #6.)
6. Brooke(Second time Brooke has blown the beginning of a performance. I’m sure it’s nerves. She was trembling all during her performance last week. She did manage to recover and did fairly well toward the end of the song this week, but the only thing memorable about her performance was that she screwed up.)
Who should leave: Jason(who looks like he can’t really believe he’s still there)
Who will leave: Brooke. If not her then Carly(seems to lack the “likeability factor”. I still think Carly is the best singer of the remaining girls though.)
I think it’s a consensus that Jason and Brooke were the worst of the night. I was actually intrigued when I heard that Jason would sing “Memory.” I thought he might do some mostly-guitar kind of arrangment, maybe something mixy-uppy and interesting like that Hawaiian version of “Over the Rainbow.” Unfortunately, he went straight for the obvious instead, and Simon got it dead-on when he said Jason looked like he’d been forced to sing that song by his mum and dad. Ouch.
As for Brooke, bless her whining little heart, she picked a totally forgettable song (rare for an ALW song but then, that’s what happens when you write a song specifically for Madonna!) and then screwed it up. Ouch again. Brooke’s going home. But at least she won’t have to nanny anymore.
Top three for me: Syesha, Carly and David C., though in what order, I couldn’t tell you. I thought Syesha looked sassy and professional and ready to take on Broadway. Singing-wise, she was not quite on the note in many places but that dress kind of made you forget it. Carly looked great (covered tats! And someone fixed her eye makeup! Finally!) and sounded pretty good. Not great. She flubbed lyrics but covered well, and the ending of the song was uninspired. But pretty good.
David C. was a disappointment to me. Full disclosure: he has been my horse in this race since early on. I thought he would take his song and do something really interesting with it like the “Billy Jean” arrangement, but no such luck. And his singing quality, while good, was just uninspired tonight. I agree with Simon that this isn’t his best side, though he did a creditable job with it.
I was surprised at David A also, but in a mildly agreeable way. I thought he turned his song into a pretty decent pop ballad. But he continues to basically bore me.
I hope to heck Brooke is going home. I don’t know if I can take the waterworks for one more week.
Love. That. Dress! Maybe instead of a Prom we can have another Inaugural Ball. I wore that color in velvet to the last one.
Veeeeeeery Eeeeeeeeeenteresting. The Hollywood execs don’t seem to be the type who are amused by that kind of thing.
Wow - congrats!
Neil Diamond has a loooooong list of fantastic songs. I’m personally hoping that someone chooses “A little bit me, a little bit you.” I think it could be rocked up David Cook-style very effectively.
Jason should sing "Song Sung Blue", he could even play uekelele.
Oh and “Here Comes Tomorrow.” Love that one.
And here’s the link to Brooke White’s CD, also STILL available from Amazon.
I think if AI were behind pulling Cook’s CD, it was because it was ranking higher than Mariah Scarey’s and based on what other people say about her, SHE is probably the one that complained. jmo
The point being that Cook isn’t the only one that had a previous CD available, so why single him out?
Neil Diamond has a lot of songs to choose from, so its going to come down to the puny list that AI gives them to choose from.
I agree, except for the last two notes. Arrrrgggggg!
LOL--that's true.
I hope to heck Brooke is going home. I dont know if I can take the waterworks for one more week.
Brooke used to be one of my favorites--and when she's in her Carol King mode, I still think she's one of the best. But I agree with you--I'm tired of the drama.
How about "Brother Love's Travelin' Salvation Show"?! Now THAT would be funny!
David C could sing the dictionary or the tax code and make it interesting.
Me lovie the Cookie... ";^)

Thank you very much. It's sort of tough, but I'm moving within walking distance of my parents. But you know how parents are- it's sort of a blessing and curse. LOL
We can't have Neil Diamond night without RK!
I can't have Neil Diamond night without you guys! The vagrants at the library aren't nearly as fun.
