Looking forward to next week.
I like Andrew Lloyd Webber’s work. But I feel sorry for the kids who have to sing his stuff — you know it will be one whine after another from Simon about how they’re too cabaret or they sound too old or it’s just too Broadway. Well, duh. It IS Broadway! :)
My girls and I were speculating whether or not they would “let” the final be between two guys or if either Carly or Brooke would somehow make it thru.
I really hated the fact that they started with themes right away....last year on the "small" stage, the contestants got to sing whatever they wanted and I think some of the first ones that got the boot this year might have done better if they didn't have to try to connect with songs that were written around the time their parents were born.
Vocally this season is killing any past season. These guys and girls are really singing and singing well. Hey I am not a big fan of pop but these people are really impressing me big time with their vocal skills. As far "Idol Gives Back" last year I thought Kelly C. was awesome with Jeff Beck doing a blues thing for a change it shows she a good range. Her voice gets stronger it seems with time.
corretion that is season 5 not 4 for Pickler, Daughtry, McPhee, Elliott, and Hicks.
Wow.
I just read all your Idol comments. Great insight. Thanks for posting :)
I’m with you until the part where David Archuleta wins. I think it will be David Cook who wins, although I hear he has a “too cool for school” attitude, which makes me not want him to win.
Was really hoping for a David Cook/Brook White final, but wouldn’t mind if it were David and Carly either. I’m not sure what everyone’s hangup is about her. Simon was right the other night when he told her she needs to start looking like a star. Her wardrobe doesn’t reflect the caliber of clothes I know the show is sent for the Idols to wear.
Neil Diamond week? Yeah!
I want to hear David Cook sing “Solitary Man”
I completely agree!
Wow is right SJ. I want to cry and laugh about this news at the same time. The contestants at this point ought to understand they've basically made it no matter what happens if they want to persue their careers. Eventhough I think Ramskin completely sux, she will have some kind of singing vocation.
Does Brooke not understand at this point it's a popularity contest, and her career is not going to be determined by whether or not she wins Idol?
I love you, but get over yourself woman!
please add me to your ping list. This thread is better than the show. Thank you, etabeta
American Idol: Idol Gives Back Performance Spoilers
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/american-idol/american-idol-idol-gives-back-18326.aspx
The show kicked off with American Idol's Top 8 singing a Rihanna song.
Snoop Dogg performed a song from his new album with legend Charlie Wilson. Members of the youth football team that Snoop coaches came on stage to help sing the chorus.
Miley Cyrus performed a couple of songs. I'm not going to pretend to know what those songs might be. My iPod is Hannah Montana free, thank you very much.
John Legend performed his new song Show Me, then dueted with Fergie on a song. This will be the biggest talent discrepancy on a duet on Idol Gives Back. Fergie then joined Heart (yes, Heart) on Barracuda. Apparently Fergie baffled the crowd by doing some cart wheels during that performance. I have no idea why she would do cart wheels.
Annie Lennox sang Jimmy Cliff's Many Rivers to Cross. That could be very good.
Carrie Underwood covered a George Michael song (Praying for Time).
Mariah Carey sang Fly Like a Bird with Idol's own Randy Jackson on bass.
Simon Cowell Predicts Battle Of The Davids On American Idol
Who will win American Idol 7? Ryan Seacrest, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul appeared on Larry King Live to discuss the season 7 finalists and Idol Gives Back. While Ryan Seacrest just joked that there would be a winner, Randy Jackson predicted a boy would win. Simon Cowell predicted, Itll be David versus David.
In regards to David Cook, Randy Jackson said, Hes definitely one of my favorites. I think hes got a shot at winning the whole thing, this kid. Simon Cowell said, This is the guy I would actually choose to listen to on a personal level. Forget what I think about the business, I like this guy. I think hes very good, my favorite.
In regards to Carly Smithson, Simon Cowell said, Ill tell you the problem I have with Carly is I dont think she knows who she is. I dont think you can listen to a Carly song and go thats who she is. Paula Abdul said, I think she picks songs that she thinks were going to approve of.
In regards to Michael Johns, Randy Jackson said, Hes a really talented guy. My problem with him is up until recently hes been picking the wrong songs. Simon Cowell said, I like this guy. I think sometimes hes a little bit like hes auditioning for a spot as the lead singer in a rock band, and then he gets it right when he does the whole blues soul thing.
In regards to Brooke White, Paula Abdul said, She puts her heart and soul into every song. America really connects with her. Ryan Seacrest said, I like her. She doesnt have a government. In other words, she gets on stage and she says whats on her mind without thinking about it, without being too much of a politician. Simon Cowell said, Her problem is the last two weeks shes been boring.
In regards to David Archuleta, Randy Jackson said, I think Davids really, really talented. Hes also one of the ones to beat. Ryan Seacrest said, Out of the gate, he was right up here, at the top of the crop, and its hard to maintain that each and every week. Simon Cowell said, Hes the one to beat, Larry. He really is the one to beat.
In regards to Kristy Lee Cook, Simon Cowell said, The odds of her winning are one million to one. Randy Jackson said, Yeah, I dont think shell win, but she definitely could have a recording contract somewhere down the road.
In regards to Jason Castro, Randy Jackson said, Jasons cool. I dont think hell win either. I dont think hes got a shot at winning. Simon Cowell said, I think this guy is all about song choice. When he sang the Jeff Buckley song Hallelujah, he was really good. The trouble is he turns up every week and he looks like he doesnt care.
In regards to Syesha Mercado, Randy Jackson said, To me with her, I feel more like Im looking at an actress/singer as opposed to just a singer. Paula Abdul said, I think shes got a pretty, beautiful voice. Simon Cowell said, Shes never going to be incredible, thats the problem.
Simon Cowell also faked out Larry King by telling him that they had decided it would be the last year of American Idol. Cowell then laughed and revealed he was only kidding. Cowell said that they would be doing at least another two more years of Idol
LMAO!
Be interesting to see how it turns out this season. Can they top the 73 mill or whatever it was?
Perhaps to demonstrate she at least had one talent.
