Wichita Falls, Texas, residents may have something to say about Dr. Phil. Its where he located his practice for several years.

The premise of this article is completely stupid. Human psychology does not differ between Texas and California, and does not differ now from what it was a few years ago. Therefore, if Phil was a licensed psychologist in Texas a few years ago, he can use the very same brain in his skull to evaluate Britney in California today. For professional and legal reasons, he may not be able to charge her fees as a patient of his, but he is just as qualified to informally and freely advise her has he would be if Britney moved to Texas and he renewed his paperwork there (which lapsed because he left the state, not because Texas thought there was anything wrong with his qualifications).

I believe the jist of the article is that Dr. Phil talked about his ‘session’ with Britney, and they are upset about it.

However, because he is not licensed, he wasn’t practicing medicine, and therefore is not bound by patient confidentiality laws, so they can’t do anything about him talking.

If he WAS licensed, they could sue to get his license pulled, and maybe sue him for damages resulting from his breach of the confidentiality.

Anyway, that is MY take about why they emphasize that he doesn’t have a license.

Some Kentwood locals say troubled pop star Britney Spears would find refuge in her hometown.

“It was determined what he [Dr. Phil] was doing was more entertainment than psychology,”

Anyone that doesn’t figure that out within 5 seconds of seeing him on TV, should have their head examined....and not by “Dr.” Phil.

Given that Dr. Phil is CLEARLY an entertainer FIRST, one has to ask the question: why would Britney’s parents seek him out? They invite an entertainer in to see their obviously trip’n daughter who needs some serious help and then they’re surprised when he tries to exploit the situation??? They are either really stupid, or just didn’t like the cut Dr. Phil was offering.

"I mean, here you have Britney, that needs to have some security somewhere, that every single thing she does and every single person she has a relationship with doesn't become an opportunity to be exploited. I mean, when do you ever rest in that if you're constantly in fear of being exploited?"

If her parents didn't want her to be exploited, why didn't they contact a private psychologist or psychiatrist? Dr. Phil doesn't have a license. While he should have kept her info confidential, he wasn't obligated to.

He is correct that she needs both medical and psychological help. Otherwise, she's going to be the next Anna Nicole Smith.

What a Hillbilly circus. With “Dr.” Phil coming in to save the day and make a buck. He is right about one thing, “This girl needs some quality counseling.” Maybe he can recommend someone. How about Dr. Granny?
