I believe the jist of the article is that Dr. Phil talked about his ‘session’ with Britney, and they are upset about it.
However, because he is not licensed, he wasn’t practicing medicine, and therefore is not bound by patient confidentiality laws, so they can’t do anything about him talking.
If he WAS licensed, they could sue to get his license pulled, and maybe sue him for damages resulting from his breach of the confidentiality.
Anyway, that is MY take about why they emphasize that he doesn’t have a license.
If he’s not licensed, I’m wondering if there IS any breach of confidentiality? Does his lack of license mean he’s just another guy on the street?
