Yep! I’ve seen that before.
I don’t know if it still does, but I understood that when they dyed the chicks and ducks for Easter, it sterilized them so that hens couldn’t lay eggs.
Easter is a pretty sad time of year for friends of the chicken. People buy their kids a half a dozen baby chicks and if the chick survives the death grip of a toddler, it doesn’t usually grow up to have the best life. Some end up at the shelter and usually the shelter folks know people to call to come get them. If they’re roosters, their fate is pretty much sealed.
Dyed chickens is going out of style, I think.
