The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

One of the nurses that usually parks at my end o' the lot has one of those and likes it. They *are* kinda cool looking.
Me...if I could afford new, I'm afraid I'd probably go with something rather boring but trustworthy, easy on gas, and dog/bike friendly - like a Subaru Forester. Or a Mazda, just 'cause the commercials are catchy. ;-)
Zoom zoom zoom...

Hair and ecurbh! If I got it, you'd hafta build a hedge to shelter yourself from the blazing ugliness...A hedge, and we might want to get you one of those portable carports to hide it in ;~)

Purty!
We’re looking for something similar, maybe. Or a used suv. With a third row of seats.

I like 'em, too, actually. Have you seen inside one? One of the gals at the college had one. We teased her and called it her "short bus", but there was no denying it was a very nifty vehicle. It's all rubber inside, for one, which she loved 'cause she has about three Goldens, and you could just hose the thing out. It also opens WIDE on the side, 'cause both doors open outward, with no frame in the middle, and there's a place to plug in an MP3 player in the dash...lots of little details like that.
But I don't think there's any denying their ugliness. I think they're so ugly they're cool...but I think about 90% of the world disagrees with the second half of that statement...
I'm done with vans for now. Don't want.

The green one would kinda blend in, though, and not be quite as hideous as, say, the orange ones.
If I could get grass to grow here, that is.

The Christmas Garmin ads,
male and
female versions, two of my favorite commercials. ;-)

Yeah, I hate haggling too, but Rose loves it, so I let her do all the haggling while I find something else to focus my attention on.

Saturn has something called the Astra that lists for $16K ... more than you planned to pay, but not too bad for a new vehicle ...

They are kinda cute, aren't they? I *like* the blue!

Out of my range, though.

I only want two rows of seats. I want something I can drive to my (fingers crossed) new job, and drive up to the U.P.
Are y'all looking to buy new, or is there a CarMax in your area?

Probably used. We’re waiting a bit but we’ve got a strong idea what we want.

I like the Murano, too. It’s just sleek lookin! LOVE that color! My Windstar was the only brand new car I’ve ever owned. Got it just before our 25th anniversary! I got the SPort model and was given the choice of white, green or red, and Toreador Red, I got!

I gotta say, I really liked the color of that van. It’s a nice *dark* red, as I recall. Pretty.

Patrick Swayze, it has been reported, has contracted pancreatic cancer.
Jen, Rosie, I don't know if you've seen Dirty Dancing ("Nobody puts Baby in a corner!") or Ghost (who'da thunk throwing a pot could be so sexy?), or Red Dawn("Go Wolverines!"), but if you find yourself watching a Patrick Swayze movie one day soon, I do hope it's To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar.

Patrick's character, Miss Vida Boehme (above, to the right, in the gorgeous picture hat), is perhaps one of my favorite characters ever in the movies, right up there with Kurt Russell's Soldier, Sidney Poitier's Mr. Tibbs, and practically every role Jimmy Stewart ever played.
And I dare you to identify the other two transvestite actors with Miss Vida ...

It WAS a nice dark red, and after The Movies came out, we called it Brego. If I ever get another new set o wheels I'll get it either in a dark red again, or a nice silvery blue.
Have you thought about a Subaru station wagon? There was a Forrester on AutoTrader in your area. The older ones are kinda boxy, but you could haul animals, and stuff in it, cause there's room in the back. Our friend in Birmingham plays the jazz bass, and he hauls it to gigs in his Subaru station wagon. Watching him drive the thing was amusing, because he's a few inches taller than SirKit, which would make him about 6' 5" or so, and his knees were almost up to his chest because the seat didn't go back far enough for him! LOL!
