The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

You mean...actually use a...phone??

Eek!

It looks like I’d have to, though. :-\ Even to create an account on their site, you need a customer number, and I don’t have one yet.

The installation isn’t until the 8th, so I guess I have time to call.

I used their on-line chat thingie. It took awhile, but I was able to do other stuff while I was waiting instead of having to listen to recordings over and over...so there’s that.

Oh, trust me, I’m excited! The folks on the guitar list are already talking about it, so I’m all fired up.

It’ll also be good to see the people who I met the time I did go and whom I’ve kept in touch with, mostly through that list. It’s a cool little community - a bit like the Hobbit Hole in the way it’s developed from folks with a common interest to folks who are also just good friends, and who talk about everything under the sun. Every so often someone complains about the lack of focus...and then usually someone brings up barbecue, which is kinda like lembas here. And another tangent begins. ;-)

It’s a fun group. I’ve learned a lot from ‘em over the years, and at least some of what I’ve learned is actually guitar related...

Well, good on you for signing up for the camp!

We haven’t downloaded anything in a while but that’s the same rational we use to download anime, plus the “it’s not on tv here” excuse. But you’ll be happier with the dvr anyway, tv just looks better on a tv.

I like the little pond!

We went to the local farm supply store and looked at chicks yesterday. Since we’re getting Becky’s rooster and will need a good pen for it, I figured we might as well build the pen big enough for two or three hens.

I was thinking of calling the rooster “Spike”, but have reconsidered. I think I’ll call him “Mr. Darcy”.

Well, yes, you can’t just have one chicken... ;~)

I still want ducks or a goose.

There are ducks and geese on Craigslist...

I still think geese are eeeevil, though.

I’d missed that you were getting a rooster! Wonder how the neighbors will like that. ;-)

When are you picking up some chicks?

Geese are a little evil... but I think they might be mean enough, and big enough, to fend off Gidget.

And I’ve always wanted a goose named Gandalf the Grey.

Cisco wanted to herd the geese at Point Defiance Park. They were not amused. Luckily he was on leash.

I think he would have quickly learned that geese are not to be herded... Geese *are* good at sticking up for themselves, I’ll give them that.

We’d need a secure area before we get them. I think it’ll take awhile to train the dogs to be safe around them.... if ever.

In other news, I have someone who’s going to come get the broken mower at some point (not my good one - the old one), so there’s that. One less thing to worry about.

I had a guy who wanted the dryer, but he never showed up. :-\ Easy come, easy go, I guess, but I’m still kind of annoyed.
