The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Pineapple upside-down cake...with coconut? We used to always add some cherries to the center of the pineapple rings, if we had rings that time around.

Here's one recipe, just as an example.

Doesn't use much coconut, though.

Mom also made a Mounds cake one time, with chocolate and coconut. It was reallllly rich, but good. I'm sure there are recipes out there!

Here’s a Mounds Cake that sounds relatively simple:

Does call for marshmallows too, though.

Are three bags of marshmallows enough?

No, I’m not making that up.

mmm. Garage...well, back from the boxstore; no luck-the ones they had weren’t what we needed (they were ‘special order’ and pricey too boot). Repaired old one and rehung it till LSA finds ‘em on the net.

How about ‘coconut choclate cherry bars’. It’s an excellent recipe for a bar cookie.

Won’t help on the pineapple though. But it’ll take care of the rest of the stuff.

How you planning to organize the shelves? Alphabetical by brand or contents?... or numerical by expiration date?

Okay....theoffice is now Oceanic Blue, the office window woodwork is painted, and all second panes are installed. I guess I need to paint Miss Cat’s bathroom (which adjoins theoffice) at some point.

I’d post a picture if the light were good enough for picture-taking. Now all rooms except the kitchen are in warm colors. Aaaahhhhhh.....warm....

Well, I dunno, I only have seven bags of semi-sweet chocolate morsels (at last count). I’d hate to run out...

I’m just kind of putting stuff into zones...rice/pasta...baking...soups...etc...and tossing out the opened and terminally dead.

Problem is that the pantry is too deep. It’s a full counter/closet size in depth and the shelves just go too far back for the Mrs. to be able to see/reach what’s back there. It made sense when Papa built them for us. But it’s never been very practical.

For the Mrs. if she can’t see it, she don’t have it. I went through the same thing in the garage with cleaning supplies.
