Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I promise to reassign all the stripey-pants guys in Foggy Bottom as cargo-kickers.
Ha! Yeah, we left our icicle light strings in the kitchen after Christmas, and we turn them on every night, and on dreary days, too.
Yeah, me too.
They like you, they really like you!
Heh...yep, that’s very much how he operates! Especially since right now I have some of the cabinets rigged shut with rubber bands to keep him out...
Ungh...good to be home. I pretty much spent the entire day from six to five thirty at work, with two brief excursions to drop off and pick up the van. And put nearly a thousand bucks on the credit card. Ouch. Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch.
My head hurts. So does my pocketbook. :-\
I’d seen the ads for that, but wasn’t sure if I’d like it. I’ll put it on the Netflix list.
OUCH is right!
*sigh*
At least it isn’t crunching when turning left anymore. So there’s that.
But we had plenty of cars when I was growing up that cost less than that.
Same here. Need a new alternator. Plus they figured out that the lack of heat was due to a blown head gasket that allowed coolant to mix with the engine oil. Ouch
It’s a story inspired from Beatles’ lyrics. It’s clever in that regard, and visually stunning.
Good morning Hobbit Hole!
Head gasket sounds scarier than what I had to deal with!
For me it was mostly a whole lot of routine stuff I’d never bothered replacing (they said all the belts looked to be original), plus a busted tie rod. It added up, especially since the timing belt is pretty labor intensive.
On the plus side, though, it felt like a different car driving it home. Not only does it actually go where I tell it to, but I was surprised by how quiet it was. I’d not really noticed it running rough, probably because I was preoccupied with the steering issues, ut I notice how much smoother it is now. I think it feels tighter than it ever has.
But if I have to do *any* more maintenance in the next...oh...year and a half, I’m gonna be ticked off. ;-)
Look on the bright side, Rosie!! You have great driving skills being able to keep the car on the road and out of accidents with all the stuff that was ~wrong~ with it! LSA
Lil', I'd been seein' the promos or Across the Universe and want to check it out.
On the homefront, last night I said to the Mrs. "So, how long do we have to keep Nana's room?" She asked what I'd do with it. I told her we'd make it our office and get our dining room back.
Unlike previous conversations, she at least said, "hmmmmm..." but was more inclined to like the idea when we redo the kitchen cabinets and put in a counter/bar eating area in the kitchen/den.
Still, that's progress.
In other news, the realization (that I've been coming to for a while) that I'm making no positive impact in the public policy arena...so why am I spending so much time there?
I have no idea what that means.
I’m thinkin’ that’s meant as a gentle scolding. ;-)
Really, the only dangerous thing (for the moment) was the tie rod, and that’s been bad for just a short while. It was scaring me, and rightly so.
The worn belts could well have been a serious problem if I’d left ‘em...but that’s done.
You’re being contemplative.
Good morning!
I’m enjoying my only cup of coffee. I cut down to one. I can handle that easily. My second cup was always just because it was there.
How are things going?
Pretty good. Yesterday was the first time in over two weeks that my diastolic (bottom number) stayed below 100 all day. So I’m cautiously optimistic.
