The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I have a headache and clogged sinuses, stuffy nose, body ache, bleah. All the remnants of the really nasty flu.

Yeah, being careful about the tylenol... it’s in the Nyquil too so I’m taking mostly ibuprofin during the day.

Sourdough... oh man... and I’ve just come to the reluctant conclusion that I have got to go strict low carb again if I actually want the scale to go down and not up.

Sigh. Monday *will* be the start of lots-of-salads lunches.

Not atherosclerosis...

Subclavian Artery Stenosis.

That's what they're looking for.

Doesn't Tylenol put out some kind of product for colds and flu that contains nasal decongestants? Have you tried that?

I think we've been lucky here in KC, I haven't heard any stories about the flu hitting the area, though I always dose myself up with 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar in a glass of water after I've been around people. Couldn't convince you to give that a try, could I? LSA

we've still got about 3.5 years to go.

Actually it is a bit more than 4 1/2 years -- December, 2012.

Well, I've seen it as Dec. 2011 sometimes, and sometimes as Dec. 2012. I wasn't sure which was current, but I was basing my own estimate on my theory that we'll suffer a major terrorist attack on this country within two years of the Democrat becoming President, which will be just a little under a year from now.

Trader Joe’s is GREAT! Their dairy products are less expensive than most grocery stores, and their cereals are, as well. One of the products I love is Silver Coho Salmon. It’s much less oily than Atlantic Salmon, and it comes in smaller frozen packages, so it thaws quickly. I like to keep several packages in the freezer. They also have some REALLY good frozen desserts like Key Lime Pie, and a Chocolate Mousse like cake. YUM!

Story on thenewz this morning was literally this:

The VCU Medical Center (formerly Medical College of Virginia) ER was full with flu patients (being a state facility they treat you regardless of insurance). But this morning they actually said “We have so many flu patients we thought it best to spread them out to other hospitals.”

Brilliant.

And the story was good, too. A very unusual Western.

Found a very interesting read here, comparing how Tolkien handled "hope" in the books, versus how Jackson handled it in the movies.

I liked this quote: "Those who need hope to keep going will fall prey to despair when their hope is ultimately withdrawn. But those like Sam and Pippin who feel from the start that the whole thing is going to be a disaster remain immune, even cheerful, when their expectations are confirmed."

I think it explains my good mood today. :-D

I thought the acting was great, but I didn't care for the story.
