**Ladies and Gentlemen...it's the FR College Football 2007-08 Bowl Games Thread**

Posted on 12/19/2007 1:19:19 PM PST by GOP_Raider

It's the most wonderful time of the year...With my Utes winning bowl games and BYU losing so I'll be of good cheer...it's the most wonderful time of the year...

--Ow! Tomatoes hurt you know. Sheesh...

During the regular season, I would normally do my fancy and mildly humorous graphical elements and those of you who would like me to feature their school's games, I would oblige. However, since we've got miles to go before we sleep, I'll re-ping the list as we go along and include said graphics. Sound like a deal? Excellent.

Tomorrow the fun will begin. (For me, at least). :)

Thanks GOP. Winning that Sun Bowl helped more than any other win. This was a tough season.

Go Ducks

Tennessee goes right down the field with the opening kickoff - Tennessee 7 Wisconsin 0.

Badgers got one hell of a kick return and are in the Tennessee red zone already.

Actually no. That would be another example of corporate cheesiness.

Thanks, it's going to be a good game. WVU is a good program - they beat us the last time they were here in 1982. We're missing three defensive starters "for various reasons" and our best running back. They're missing their (former) head coach.

The only thing to do at this point, for those of us who aren't in Phoenix, is to ice down the beer and warm up the blackeyed peas and enjoy the game.

This is one of the reasons, you know, that we take so much interest in the trivial matters of politics and affairs of state around here at FR - the outcome in the end has more to do with the important matters of how we and our families live, and enjoy, life in the here and now than most people would think. If there were no sports, or music, or cooking, or house-building, or whatever else floats your particular boat, are we sure it would really even matter?

Halftime - Tenn 21 Wisconsin 14. Badgers scored a late TD to make this a game. Both teams are playing very well.

Early 2nd qtr - Mizzou 7 Arkansas 0. So far the Tigers are manhandling the Razorbacks. Makes you wonder how much the coaching change is affecting Ark.

****And the mighty SEC stays perfect in bowl season.****

They were talking about that this morning on The Heard (sportstalk radio show). NOt to sure about Arkansas though. DMC does not seem to have it today. (12 rushes 47 yards)

****Jeez, 11am? How can anybody expect to have any kind of game face and make fun of opposing players and their old high school girlfriends that early in the morning?****

I love thee 11AM games. I used to have a roomate who was in the Ohio State Marching Band (TBDBITL) and when OSU was in the Rose Bowl they had to wake up at something like 5AM to march in the Rose Bowl parade.

OMG this hockey game is quite a site.

I was just thinking in this Bowl Season we had Purdue playing Central Michigan in their backward (Detroit). Michigan is playing Forida is their backward (Orlando). Ohio State is playing LSU in their backward (New Orleans). Illinois is playing USC in their backward (LA). So much for neutral fields. LOL!

****The game I most intrigued to watch is FLA-MICH.****

We'll know by 2:00 whether that game will be worth the time. Will Michigan win it for loyd or are they thinking of other things.

****UPSET SPECIAL - Illinois 31 USC 28 - Call me crazy****

I won't call you crazy. I think Illinois could do well today. If Illinois can control the game they way they did in Columbus. (OSU ran a total of 3 plays in the 4th qtr)

People are really underrating Illinois.

Maybe it's me, but didn't it seem like the Cotton Bowl was a bigger game than this once upon a time?

The Cotton Bowl used to be one of the Big Four (Rose, Sugar, Cotton, Orange) Rose matched Pac 10 and Big 10, Sugar had SEC, Cotton had SWC, and the Orange had Big 8. That was the top 5 conferences against the other best 3 in the country. Much better than the current setup.

Two things killed the Cotton Bowl when the BCS was set up - the SMU death penalty which resulted in the breakup of the SWC, and the twin economic crises in Dallas - the collapse of the oil patch and the collapse of the banks. The Cotton bowl lost its base conference and the money needed to compete. It's only been very recently that they have reinstituted the Cotton Bowl parade.

Former mayor Kirk blocked a planned renovation of the Cotton Bowl stadium, ensuring that the game itself will flee Dallas for Jerry Jones Stadium in Tarrant County.

Cap One Bowl - TEBOW 7 Michigan 7. I say Tebow because the announcers are convinced that there are no other players on the field for Florida other than Tim Tebow. He throws, runs, passes, kicks, makes all the tackles, saves young children from burning buildings, has brought about world peace, ended hunger and is singlehandedly working on an alternative fuel solution and free enrergy for all.
