That’s right. Give me lots of sunlight, and I flourish. I just can’t handle winter. Even in Vegas, it’s too dark and cold for me, though I DID spend the first five years of my life on an island across from Juneau, AK.
The desert heat is in my bones.
OOPS! That should have been to DC, too! (Sorry, guys...)
Hi Bob!
Nice night there?
Then you will never be cold.
I'm checking out for the evening.
Please don't break the universe while I'm gone.
;-D
It’s cooling off. We have a fire in the fireplace.
Lights on the Christmas tree, the Grinch on TV. What could be better?
Since I took "Transformers" back to my daughter today, and I don't have "Matrix," ot "The Day After Tomorrow," I suppose I'll be staying in my own little corner of said universe.
I wouldn't hurt a fly.
"Toy Story?" Warm eggnog? Something to chase it with, like a bit of the bubbly?
The Polar Express was on earlier.
No egg nog, but I had hot chocolate. Not bad.
.
Of course, I’m easy to please.
I LOVE Polar Express!
But then, I like most Christmas stories. Sometimes, I watch them with eggnog, sometimes with hot chocolate, sometimes with something else.
But then, I’m also easy to please. (For the most part!)
BTW, RE: Beowulf
Got this firsthand review from a local homeschool mom:
“My husband and I previewed Beowulf before allowing our 13-yr-old to see it, and we are glad we did. He will not be seeing this feature film, nor our other (older) children. It was very disturbing! It was closer to an R-rated movie, not PG13. Although semi-animated, it was very realistic and graphic, like some on-line games for older teens and adults. Besides being violent and overtly explicit in content visually and thematically, it did not follow the story of Beowulf at all. The plot and the characters are not what they are in the book, nor can they follow the “types” they were designed to represent. An example of this is the hero who does not follow the pattern of being truthful and honorable, but hides his sin and lives in shame most all his life, destroying his relationships.
This tragic movie was very disturbing on many levels. A very distorted and confusing triangle of love, deceit and sin, not a story of a hero. This corrupted version of Beowulf will wreck, not improve your child’s understanding of the story and life.
As you can tell, I was not pleased with the showing. I rarely speak up with my movie opinion or give a review, but since we read the book, and I was eager to preview this movie, I assume you might also be contemplating a trip to the theater...”
Thought you’d like to know.

Ratz....missed the party again...
Thank God for hot tubs...
Last Post?......!
And NOW, here's a little something to boost your Christmas cheer (and "Yes," you DO have to SING it):
My Christmas Shoppin's Done! |
---|
Just grab the cold egg nog off the shelf |
Don't try to drag me out to Costco |
Won't go to Sears or to Home Depot |
Yeah I got all my Christmas shoppin' done |
Yeah I've got all my Christmas shoppin' done |
AND, for those of you who HAVEN’T finished up your shopping yet, here’s a fun little video tip to help you out:

Thanks for the input. I’ll mention the divergence from the poem to Anoreth, so she can be prepared to keep her mouth shut about it during the film!
I don’t think it will wreck her understanding of the story and life, though. She’ll just watch the battles and critique the costumes and weaponry.
Congratulation on finding a house! It is a good time to buy, if one’s got a good credit rating.
I hope your nails look wonderful and you’re well enough for your Pajama Party!
We had a great time at the party last night. The youth group leader (nice man, originally from Iran) told me how great he thinks Anoreth is. Elen got to play “Santa’s elf,” which was extremely thrilling. Several old people mentioned that they were amazed that all three little boys waited in their chairs until we brought them their food. And Sally finished an activity for a Girl Scouts badge that involved interviewing women of different ages.
Then Anoreth and I went back to participate in a prayer vigil from 10-11. Even with the nap, I had a hard time staying awake, but I managed. (Not sure Anoreth did, but at least she didn’t snore or fall off the chair. ;-).
Warm again today - 55 already. Time to feed the catz!
My daughter always does an excellent job on my nails. It also gives us time to “bond,” which was quite lacking in her younger years. (No fault of ours.)
I’m going to keep a low profile for the week to try to make sure I have enough energy to get me through Friday night. I’m crossing my fingers.
It sounds as if the party was well worth going to! I’m glad the kids benefited so much. It’s always good to see lessons that are so tangible and immediate.
It’s been a long time since I did a prayer vigil. Really long.
Cute poem!
I can’t sing this morning. My voice isn’t awake, yet. ;o]
Someone at the church holds a prayer vigil for life this time every year. Last year it was about 20 degrees, and we were there from 11:00 to midnight!
I figure all the nights I spent sitting up with babies counts for something :-).
I would say holding babies in the night counts as a vigil. It’s why moms are so blessed.
