J.K. Rowling, author of the world-wide best-selling Harry Potter series, met some of her American fans tonight and provided some surprising revelations about the fictional characters who a generation of children have come to regard as close friends.
In front of a full house of hardcore Potter fans at Carnegie Hall in New York, Rowling, sitting on the stage on a red velvet and carved wood throne, read from her seventh and final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," then took questions. One fan asked whether Albus Dumbledore, the head of the famed Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, had ever loved anyone. Rowling smiled. "Dumbledore is gay, actually," replied Rowling as the audience errupted in surprise. She added that, in her mind, Dumbledore had an unrequited love affair with Gellert Grindelwald, Voldemort's predecessor who appears in the seventh book. After several minutes of prolonged shouting and clapping from astonshed fans, Rowling added. "I would have told you earlier if I knew it would make you so happy."
In answer to the question "Did Hagrid marry?" Rowling replied that sadly, no. The half-giant had a flirtation with a giantess but she found him "a tad unsophisticated" and the relationship never went forward. In response to the audience's groans of dismay, Rowling said, jokingly, "O.K., I'll write another book." And when the audience continued to express disapproval added, "at least I didn't kill him."
Other minor characters, according to Rowling, came to happier ends. Neville Longbottom, Harry's meek and hapless classmate, married Hannah Abbott, another classmate.
Well, the Albus/Minerva shippers are probably having a cow about now.

She will be happy to hear that her queer propaganda is banned in a new place today.
This is all part of the homosexual agenda, as they try to normalize their perversion.
I would have never bought her books for my children for their focus on witchcraft, but now my children have been instructed to not read her books at the library or anywhere else.
So, you enjoy a series of movies and books which feature "Masters" both good and evil who manipulate an unseen, universal "Force" to allow them to levitate objects, leap to great heights, cloud and control the "weak-minded", foretell the future, and perform other seemingly super-human feats.
What was it you were leery of, again?
The idiot just had the whole potter series moved to the sexual content section.
Parents can now ban a once semi-innocent series based on this alone. This will go right next to heather has two momies or daddys roomate.
The wizardry BS is no longer required. Reading the series is no longer required. Just quote the authors own words.

Harry Potter’s new DVD will not be bought because conservative parent do not support homosexuals hanging around their children. (especially given the other FR thread that reported homosexuals are most likely to molest) There is no reason to normalize likely predators.

Does everyone realize that groups can now ask for this entire series to be moved to the “adults only” section of libraries and book stores?
No longer do yo have to “ban it” it just has to be quarenteened into the homosexual studies section.
No more wizardry arguments, now its all about recreational sex. It will be interesting to see what happens with the last movie with this marketing poison.

How can a fictional character be “gay”, when there was no indication of any kind of homosexual relationship as part of the story? I’m not buying the Grindelwald as a gay lover explanation. Darn, now I have to reread Deathly Hallows to see how I could have been so blind! :-)
I suppose next we’re going to hear that all the teachers were gay, since none of them appear to be married or in a relationship?
But haven't you heard?? The books are full of homosexual imagery hidden in plain sight that you and I and the millions of other HP fans are just too dumb to see!
In the parody of LotR they pass some kids playing Harry Potter and Cartman yells something like, “Harry Potter? That’s so gay!”
Then a few minutes later, a few of the LotR kids get ticked off it’s taking so long to return the video and say, “Forget this. We’re going back to play with the Harry Potter kids.”
Well, I guess I’m dumb, or I don’t go out of my way to look for hidden messages of sexuality in my recreational reading.
I just read a more detailed transcript of what she said, and I have to say I’ve lost respect for her. It’s a bit cowardly to spring this little tidbit on us AFTER she’s sold all her books, don’t you think?
No biggie. I believe that she has to continue to get people to read the books since she is not writing anymore. She will continue from time to time to say something shocking to get those books off the bookshelves and into homes. I never read the books and have no idea who Dumbledore is. I bet she did not have that idea in her mind when she was doing the series just when she figured she better begin saying things to keep the interest going.
It sounds like she had an agenda and therefore dishonest with her readers. I dislike these little mind games. Perhaps she was trying to figure out how to get more publicity and controversy and no matter if it included making up things.
Honestly, I could care less. It doesn’t change how I feel about the story at all. Like you said, he’s a fictional character who exhibits no sexuality. She said that he had “unrequited love” for Grindewold, which I interpret to mean that they didn’t have any sort of affair and there is nothing in DH that suggests they were anything other then friends. After his mother and sister died, he basically isolated himself. So it’s not like she implied he was out cruising magical gay bars or airport bathrooms.
I guess, I look at it like I would if someone told me Willy Wonka was gay or Mike Mulligan’s steam shovel was gay. It doesn’t change the story for me, because the only life they have is when I am reading about them.
It was the lord of the rings episod. The southpark kids said playing harry potter was “gay”.
Nor I. I've read (well, listened to) all the books several times, seen all the movies, and followed all the HP threads here on FR.
Nor for that matter does RatBoy recall any gay themes or characteristics relating to any of the characters, though he did comment that Dumbledor was soft spoken.
