[ Please note, I'm posting this as a commentary on our increasingly decadent culture and the either impossible or undesirable goals it sets for our young women. ]
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AP) -- Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing. An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked-about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards -- but for all the wrong reasons....
She walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable given her once-taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape....

OUCH.
“She needs to grow into her role of being a woman and now a parent. She needs to dress accordingly.”
I agree. I feel sorry for this girl, well to me she’s a girl. I don’t know who is advising her, but they are not doing her any favors. She seems lost, poor thing. One area where she doesn’t seem to be hurting is in the financial department.

TMZ has obtained documents from the Britney/K-Fed hearing last Monday, where it was revealed the popwreck rakes in an average of $737,868 a month.

Apparently they pulled the photos.
Speaking of photos, it sure appears to me that it is Britney doing that part of the dancing teacher that Fox is putting up as their top video. The Hardees ad that has the Tennessee teachers knickers in a twist......
Yet, you went ahead and posted it anyway.
That video just made me feel so sorry for her. How the heck can you live your life with a dozen photographers harassing and stalking your every move??
She really needs to head back to Louisiana, get into a real rehab and/or get some psychiatric help, and try to become human again.
This must be awful for her little sister.:/
I think it could happen, MTV has been rotting for many years now, and last night was the worst produced show of no talent I have ever seen.
A bunch of million/billionaire partying at the LV Palms, not exactly appealing to normal people.
I think it could be the end of MTV culture.
“But all of the women had no hips whatsoever.”
It goes back to your accurate post about gay men in fashion. They have ruined it really, making so many models look like drugged-out Filipino boys.
Overweight and underdressed; lip-synching that didn’t match and dance steps reminiscent of a first-year dance student.
Perhaps your son remembers the woman that was?

Hmmm. Ya got me there. I guess I consider FR -- even though a family-friendly site -- to be a place to discuss adult issues such as cultural decline, with examples.
Suffice it to say that I limited myself to posting only one, relatively inoffensive, still photo from her "act" -- most of them showed her in various simulated sex acts with a variety of men, and being groped by everybody on stage...
That's an excellent point -- this would have been the place to move ahead, to leave the slut-track behind. Now, having tried to keep going on the old track and failed publicly, if she does drop it, it will be seen as an admission of defeat, rather than a positive choice.
Perhaps we have indeed seen the death of her career. If she can recover from this, it'll be a surprise. I hope for her sake (and her kids' sake) that she pulls it off -- otherwise she'll spiral downward into oblivion almost immediately.
“She is simply not going to be able to run on the slut-track anymore. This should be good news to her, but she keeps denying it.”
The slut track is all she knows. She’s finished.
I think you are both right. This is the end of the line for Britney. It is a shame, because she could have gone on to different things.
Maybe she just didn’t have the talent to pull off a more dignified style. But if they can make Faith Hill sound good, they can make anybody sound good. Technology is a wonderful thing.
Timberlake — talk about NO talent.
If she hadn’t performed at this show, she might possibly have done well with her new CD. Now, however, it may bomb as well.
Different outfit, more energy and she’d of been fine.
Reading this article is very, very depressing for a father of a young child. Pop culture has always had questionable value, but now our “best stars” have nationally televised parties with pole dancers, dance in their underwear, etc.? And the reviewers act like its all normal?
