Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Big’ol and I were just commenting (whilst watching Faramir do some hack-n-slash on some orcs) that Wenham hasn’t had the same caliber of roles since ROTK. He’s in lots of stuff, but the characters aren’t as strong.
and so it begins... jest kilt a 3 1/2 foot copperhead in the yard...
Gunner was losin’ his mind in the front yard and mrsnad went out to see what the ruckus was about...
the only thing that durned dog ever done right...
With Craigslist, it’s just a matter of waiting...and there’s now an ad for a ten dollar chair. That works fer me...
Mmmm...Gerard Butler...
I really need to see that movie one of these days.
Ungh...I’m glad I’ve never really lived anywhere with many poisonous snakes. Well...except Colorado, but the ones there are apparently small and generally easily spotted.
Snakes creep me out anyway, even without the poison. *shudder*
I still get chills there.
And when the Rohirrim charge. MAN, that’s an awesome sequence!
We watched DejaVu. Quite a good movie! I was yelling at the characters for being stupid though. Grr... time travel only happens to idiots apparently.
Theoden's speech still gives me a simultaneous chill down my spine, and lump in my stomach. It may be one of the most powerful ad-libs in all of movie making.
As much as we may knock some of PJ's handling of Tolkien, there were some times when he and his crew added to the work by a visual image over and above the literary image Tolkien provided. Theoden's speech is one of those scenes. If it scared the crap out of the camera crew, it's good enough for me.
The Beacons was just a great way of establishing a view of Middle Earth that was majestic and so far away from our present diminished world.
Good Dog Gunner - that’s earning the large sized Milk Bone dog biscuit.
That’s a good sized copperhead - 38” let’s see..less 3-4 inches, say 34” net. If we use handle wrap and limb tip wrap for a total of 10 inches. Say 44 inches nock to nock. Otherwise you could save it, air dried, till you get another; then there would be plenty of length.
Ai chihuahua!
In 300 he looks skinny again, because all he's wearing is that leather Speedo and his cape. ;o)
What a good pup! Copperheads are nasty animals; they'd be much better if they'd rattle to let you know they're there.
We called it a day just after the white rider scattered the Nazgul. We had the sound turned up so the Billy Boyd song followed by the “subsonic” boom of Gandalf’s staff was especially effective.
He's a first class actor in that regard. He becomes the character not the star.

Not that anyone's complaining or anything...
