Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
My WW2-dated belt doesn't have them either. I suspect that was a very early version, designed with a belt-and-suspenders mentality. After all, you can't have the troops blast away their 100-round combat load too fast.
The site is interesting, but is a bit sketchy on pre-WW2 items, except as indirect references. Still, it's a good starting point.
The Cabellas does have some good sales and the firearms section is pretty complete. Especially like seeing the weaponry in the Gun Room Library. Nice but pricey, way pricey. My shooting buddy used to work their part time. Most everyone on the gun or rod sides of the store is. Can’t let working full time interfere with their seasonal pursuits.
Ecurbh - now that’s a hat. Perfect for those early wintery mornings with horses.
Thanks, I haven’t seen enough of the web cartridge belts and gear open to know for sure. I will say the web gear is durable as heck, given even minimal care in use and storage.
We concur - magnet too strong. Cute Kitty pic. OB & LSA
Those are great pictures! I LOVE your bride’s wedding ring,and her dress was just beautiful!
It’s a mountain man! Seriesly, though, that store looks like a feast for the eyes!
I’ll probably take you up on that this afternoon! I’m gonna go get churched up at noon and then have a few errands to run on the way home, but maybe after that?
I’m also thinking of throwing some taco meat in the crockpot for tonight. I could maybe bring that with me and finish cooking it there. It’s not a huge amount, but it’d be good for snacking, at least. I have cheese and was going to pick up some chips.
Also have some dessert stuff and drink stuff...
Sure! Sounds good. :~)
Ramius will be heading home sometime this afternoon, and we have to clean stalls too. But we’re flexible.
I got all the images just fine.
So like, you really weren’t making all of this up after all. ;-)
Great pictures. It looks like it was a beautiful wedding.
::wonders what went with his Cabellas hat::
I’ll ping ya when I get back...
Heh...standing water in the back yard. Guess we need a water garden.
Well, I’ve put this off for far too long.
Today is the office “deep cleaning” day. I’m putting in themovies. The challenge will be to see whether the Fellowship completes their quest before I do.
“I will clean it up. Though I do not know the way...”
I have one of those .... mounted it in a canted position (2 O’clock) to use with gas mask.
Also have one I will be using later on my Mk 12 Clone gopher gun in progress........:o)
Very nice Aug BTW.......Stay safe !
OK - our plan may be evolving... Ramius may actually go home... not sure yet :~)
Dinner is slowly coming together. Yule Log has been made; we put a little hazelnut flavoring in the whipped cream filling. The ganache is cooling to frost the log later. Dough for the Oatmeal Rolls is rising. Ham is in the oven, and David is fixing to peel taters. I'm making Gratin Dauphinois. It's tater slices cooked with milk and half and half for a bit, then put in a baking dish and covered with Fontina cheese before baking. It's a gonna be vey tasty. I'm also doing Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Sweet onions. We'll throw some Petite Peas in the microwave just before we eat, and steam some broccoli as well.
Moving around slowly is helping the 'snakebite' as SirKit calls the two punctures at the Hearth Cath site, feel better. It still takes a bit before I can get completely vertical, after sitting for a bit, but I can do it!
They're threatening another snow storm tonight. Oh Joy!
Thanks, that's my "social" AUG. This is my SHTF AUG:
With a 16" barrel, it's the most firepower I could put in a non-NFA package. It even has the special Aussie conversion stock that allows the use of M16 mags, so supply isn't a problem.
And Matt Murray at Urban-ERT came up with a gizmo to allow a singlepoint sling, which I thought would be impossible until I saw how he did it. It's a bit of a bother to install it right, but when done puts the sling point at just about the same exact spot as the balance point.
I won't be making too many 300m shots with this, but it's just intended to outrange and outshoot AK47s.
