This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

All the pictures of the straight trees ares so cool. I think you’ll understand why I like them, when you see the trees here.
Becky
Yup, that’s one one where it makes a U turn. :~)
They’re always careful on that one because it can be a little slippery... Cyn has on her ‘careful’ face :~)
I’ve reached the end...I can’t believe how green the grass is behind ecurbh in the last picture...Darn, that would kill a horse wouldn’t it?
Becky
Well, I don’t want to spoil these boys poker game, so I’m signing off. I’ll try to run down tomorrow and check in. I’m riding in the morning, then Jenny and Travis are coming to work on the RV. WE are camping on Sept. 21 with some friends then the next weekend Jenny is taking it on her vacation.
HOpefully, Mack will get me hooked back up at home one way or another:)
Becky
Sorry I had to leave you hangin’... Rosie came and then Riley the Golden from across the street showed up and I had to call them, they’re out of town, it’s mass hysteria around here!
Have a good ride tomorrow and check in soon!
Hi there! I’m just fine, my back is sore, but that’s expected. I ran around all day today trying to find an interview suit, didn’t find one, my legs are way too short for a paint suit, and I don’t think that a skirt is appropriate for what I’m interviewing for. I have a black pant suit, it’ll have to do.
That’s good to hear. Pants (and skirts) are always too long for me. I would love to have Barbie doll legs:’)
Woo Hoo, Hair's got a Gaited Horse after all! He's just the A'Rab version. ;o)
Seriously though, I'll bet you could teach it to him by pushing him into the bit and holding him back. That's how they teach Saddlebreds to rack coz they don't come by it naturally.
‘Mornin Beaker! I’ll be praying for you at your job interviews this week! Good Luck!!!
I’m FReeping here at home right now, but I won’t be around much longer this morning because I’ve got an appointment for a yearly physical. I gotta go get ready, but I’ll talk to y’all this afternoon.
Ugh! Well good luck with that! :~\
Heh... Bay’s always had a good fast walk but we were still huffing to keep up with that gaited mule last year unless I just let him trot ;~)
Alison went back to school this morning. Boy, the summer vacation went fast. The yard should be dry enough for me mow today. That chore will be ending soon also.
The baby squirrel is so cute!
What kind of horse is Levi?
I would like your opinion on instructing a five year old on how to use the reins and turn a horse around.
Here is the scene: My character (actually JEB Stuart) is instructing his five year old son to walk a horse up, turn it and walk it back to him.
Would you tell him what to do, show him what to do, etc.
I do not have a clue, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
Thanks Frog! I appreciate it. Hope everything went well with your appointment.
