I'm back. Since you all have been so kind and helpful answering my horse questions for my novel, I have come to ask another question.

I would like your opinion on instructing a five year old on how to use the reins and turn a horse around.

Here is the scene: My character (actually JEB Stuart) is instructing his five year old son to walk a horse up, turn it and walk it back to him.

Would you tell him what to do, show him what to do, etc.

I do not have a clue, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
