This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well, it’s pouring again. Since I was all keyed up to do something active, I think I’ll at least go out and tidy the barn. It’s a mess.
After lunch...
Our barn deperately needs cleaning. Maybe next weekend. Bob took his dogs for a run so I went out and brushed Farah. When he came back, he came in and said “I see you’ve been out brushing Farah” (her paddock and the next are covered with white hair right now) - the wind is coming up though so it’ll all blow away and birds can use it for nesting.
I didn't take a 'before', but trust me, there was frap everywhere, the dropped hay was deep, empty feed and bedding bags, buckets and frap everywhere, a chair that didn't belong there... etc.
Now I can get to the walls to better organize the stuff that's hanging there :~\
Pony pony watches with interest at the most exciting thing to happen today:
Frog I am so sorry to hear about your mother...prayers for you and your family.
Becky
I wish you were set up to take him too:)
No I haven’t rode any. I think Kristy is getting a pen built at her place and she is going to take Harley home so she can ride him some. She will take him to arenas and work on barrel, and then some races, and hopefully the exposure will help get him sold.
That will just leave Rocky for me to ride, and I think I can manage that.
I’m still adjusting to working....I come home and crash on the couch...headed there now.
Becky
Forgot to add...a sign showed up down by the bridge announcing a meeting tonight about the bridge....It’s being held in the home of the people who tried to get the homeowners association going around here. I’m not going, don’t want any part of it, but I’d like to be a fly on the wall:)
Becky
Hair, you're going to shame me into cleaning my barn.
I walked out to look at Rocky a few minutes ago and saw Bob's barn cat. She has her eyes on something.
That something is a baby bunny about four inches big.
I delivered a stern warning, which she paid no attention to. I was afraid to rescue the bunny because where its at now the cat can't reach it but if I moved the roll of wire, it would run and the cat would grab it before I could. Hoping the cat gives up shortly when Bob goes out to feed. The cat's highlight of the day is following him around as he feeds.
And - Rocky - to lazy to get up. I'll try to get pictures later of his legs. Becky, the back legs are crooked this time?????
Beautiful baby...but then you always have beautiful babies:)
Glad mother and baby is doing OK.
Becky
Do either of you remember how to measure the leg to get a guesstimate of the final hight of a baby? He’s small with tremendously long legs.
Thanks. I’m really enjoying today, I’m off and the weather has been nice so I can go play with him and spoil his momma.
Precious baby. :~)
Hope BadKitty doesn’t get the bunny...
Becky I understand about the working thing. Working with the public especially, wears me out. There are people, they say, who get energy from people. And people who have the energy sucked out of them by people. I know I’m the latter. The first kind become politicians and performers.
Well, we’ve got thunder rolling in...and the sky is looking ominous. Guess we are in for some more rain.
Becky
Ooop. Hope it’s not too bad a storm.
Pretty baby! Glad it went well.
I’m so sorry about your mom.
Thank you :)
I was woke up last night by hail pounding on the house...it was not big size but it fell for awhile. I’m dreading seeing my truck this morning when the sun comes out:(.
Right now we still have heavy rain, wind, lightening...and are under a flash flood warning. I don’t go to work till 10, hope it’s all passed by then.
Becky
About measuring the height of a baby, I was told to stand them next to momma... if the babies knees are even with the mothers they will be about the size of mom...if the knees are under mom’s knees they will be shorter, and higher then mom’s they will be taller. This was always pretty accurate when we were breeding.
He looks so comfortable laying there:)
Becky
Good Morning, and thanks for all the prayers for my Mom and me. She began having trouble with low blood pressure and falling around this time last year and had moved into a retirement community last May. She had also been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. It was where she needed to be and she knew it, even though she wasn’t real happy about having to leave her home. It was a very nice place where she had her own private room with her own furniture and they took real good care of her, but she had a massive stroke on Saturday around lunchtime and never really regained consciousness. She always said that she’d rather die than slowly loose herself to Alzheimer’s like she’d seen so many others do, so I’m glad that God heard her prayer and took her before then, even though it was real hard to loose her so quickly. My sister and I were with her when she breathed her last and I was glad for that too. She had missed my Dad so much in the years since he passed and the added loss of her independence was almost more than she could bear so I’m glad that she’s free of that now and is with God and Daddy and all the others that she loved. I imagine they’re having quite the party in Heaven right now!
I’ve never had to deal with funeral arrangements before and all the other legal stuff that comes with the death of a loved one so I’m sure I’m in for a rude awakening. She had pre-arranged for all of her funeral expenses so that was was a breeze, but trying to pick out her clothes was really the hard part. She was always very particular about her appearance and since she worked most of her life as a sales lady in a dress shop she was very well dressed, but I think I picked out something that she would have liked. The funeral will be tomorrow so I’m going to try to get some other stuff taken care of today. I’ll check in when I can. Thanks again for all the kind thoughts!
Beth.
